Review by Mutt The Man
"A great game through and through."
Full Throttle is an amazing game made by Lucas Arts about a biker gang called, the Pole Cats. To my knowledge, Full Throttle was released in 1994, but even today it is one of my favorite games ever. Its amazing blend of comedy and puzzles astounds me. But enough of that, now, its on to the scoring!
Story 7/10
The gist of it is, is that the leader of the Pole Cats (that's the character you play as) has found out a few secrets, and because of that, he has made some enemies. So he goes off to save his biker gang and right a few other wrongs as well.
Graphics 7/10
Nowadays they aren't quite that good, but way back when, they were pretty good. I think they give a good vibe to the game.
Control 9/10
A bit slow to the draw but besides that flawless. It was so easy my brother who has trouble with Minesweeper was able to beat this game.
Gameplay 10/10
This is the best part in my opinion. The puzzles are so amazingly simple if you look back at them, but while doing them they present just the right amount of a challenge to keep you interested in the game. The bike fighting is rather cool and chatting with the NPC's can be hilarious.
Sound 8/10
The voice acting is pretty darn good and the motorcycles sound somewhat real (from my experience). A few things bothered me but nothing to big.
Re-playability 7/10
Even though it doesn't have different ending or different ways to do everything, I still found myself playing it over and over. Just seeing how fast I could finish it, or just going back to my favorite parts.
Comedic Value 8/10
I think this is a hilarious game. With such a straight faced, wise aleck main character, some of the dialogue is drop dead funny. Trying to get your character to do crazy things, such as eat dog food or kicking a welded metal art piece can be hilarious. Or trying to have a conversation with a trucker testing his skill with a knife in a bar, or throwing fertilizer in a bikers eyes can end up with an entertaining scene.
All and all, I think it is a classic game, and even though it doesn't get the recognition it deserves it shall always have a special place in my heart (or video game library, whatever you want to call it). If you have the chance to get this game, go for it!
