SimSafari
Review by Aristotle
"A very unique simulation that scores very high in all categories."
The first thought that ran through my head when I first saw SimSafari was, "Ew, make your own safari park?! How fun could that be??" But then I bought the game, got it home, and started playing it for the first time. I discovered that it was nothing like what I thought it would be. For once, the graphics were outstanding, but that is not the most important category. The sound and music ruled, and the contorls were simple. The difficulty level was perfect for a beginner like me. All in all, I loved this game, even though it is not at all what it appears to be. Let's see why, shall we?
GRAPHICS: So detailed that you can actually see the different animals moving about your park. You can also see the grass waving in the wind (which if you got the game, you would realize that this is a major thing), and the animals actually eating food, like giraffes eating trees. This category is definitely excellent, far better than any I have ever witnessed in any simulation made by Maxis.
SOUND: Impeccable. With sound on, you get to hear the sound of the lions roaring (if you have any), birds chirping, and animals eating, fighting, and playing. There is a particularly annoying sound, however, when you place grass, plants, trees, and animals, the sound gets real annoying, real fast.
MUSIC: What music? The gameplay was too involving for me to listen to anything as trivial as music! But I did hear a little bit of it, and it is perfect, as is everything in this game.
CONTROLS: N/A. All you need is a mouse compatabile with your version of SimSafari, and if you feel like it, a keyboard to use the shortcut commands.
DIFFICULTY: Perfect. Not too incredibly easy, but then again, not too incredibly hard. You are in charge of creating a safari park and camp, with limited cash available for your disposal. YOu must recruit the local villagers as employees in your camp, or else it will fall apart. You must also maintain adequet numbers of all the animals in your safari park, or else your customers will be very displeased with you. Excellent.
GAMEPLAY: As smooth as silk. Everything fits together perfectly, and the framerate is perfect, so the graphcis are never choppy. The mouse, so long as you possess the knowledge to use it properly, proves to be an excellent way if navigating through the game's simple menus. All in all, this is a very fun game that everyone, age not important, would and should love.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
SOUND: 10/10
MUSIC: 10/10
CONTROLS: 10/10
DIFFICULTY: 10/10
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
OVERALL: 10/10 (not meant to be an average, but in this case, an average)
LAST THOUGHT: As you could probably tell form my reviews, I think very highly of this SimSafari. SimCity fans should DEFINITELY pick up a copy of this game, and if you're new at simulations, definitely get this game, for only $9.99!
BOTTOM LINE: THIS GAME RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
