"A really average game based on a really great fantasy novel"

This game was the first RPG that I completed. It was the second RPG that I have played though. The first RPG that I played was Ultima V which was actually made before this game. Now some might ask why this comparison? Well I could still get myself excited over playing Ultima V but sadly
this game doesnt have a gameplay value that can still be fun after so many years.

Storyline-6/10
The storyline isn't bad and is actually quite good if you can pretend you have never read the fantasy novel series
known as Dragon Lance Chronicles or Dragon Lance Legends.
This game actually has a storyline after Dragon Lance Legends.
Well like most RPG made in the west the characters in your party don't have any characters at all. They are just a bunch of guys that however you can name and create in any form and dump in to form a party.I would have prefer it if they actually made an RPG based on the novel instead.
Apart from poor character development or none at all the storyline isn't too bad. Its just not as great as the novel that it was based on.

Music/Soundtrack-Not Rated
Its just not fair to give this game a zero because its dated.

Graphics- 6/10
The graphics aren't too bad. Sometimes they really looked like they were graphics drawn and enlarged from the novel.
Fans of the novel would be able to recognise some of the in game graphics in the game. The portraits of the NPCs aren't too bad too.

Gameplay-6/10
Although its supposed to be a Western style RPG this one actually is quite linear like a Japanese style RPG. Although you can enter the other dungeons there is really nothing to do there.
Anyway the objective of this game is just to clear dungeon after dungeon. Now if you love combat and random encounters then this is great. There is little or no conversation with NPCs or anyone else. ITs just clear dungeon after dungeon.
Also this game doesnt' store all its text and information in the game. You are asked to refer to journal entries. Maybe they did this for copy protection but it sure became annoying after a while.

Conclusion-The novel was great but sadly a game made based on a great novel can be terrible. I must say that I would have given the game a lower score if not for the fact that they actually have gameplay rules and storylines that actually are based on my favourite novel. That I feel was enough to give it a decent score. However players who have never read the novels from Dragon Lance would find this game to be mediocre or terrible.
