Delta Force: Black Hawk Down

"Delta Force: Black Hawk Down Review"
Guns, more guns, online play more guns, vehicles. When first reading or looking at this game in your local game store, it looks like any other low budget, sleeper hit shooter right? This game is one of THE best shooters I've played in years. You start out as playing a soldier sent to Somalia in Africa to stop the terrorists from killing the inhabitants.
Graphics: 8/10
The graphics in this game can go from just a bland long desert, to being plain jaw dropping in the characters textures, guns and the vehicles. From just running to going over to a helicopter and watch the propeller shoot up dust at you. It's VERY detailed in many areas, but some of the buildings just seem the same and the textures on them are a little choppy. The water has very polished and have shiny detail that makes it look very stunning at times. But at times, you might experience some lag on the online play due to some people that play on dial up. Otherwise the graphics are very detailed.
Sound: 10/10
The explosions, the echoes of gunfire through the streets, the yells and shouts of pain EVERYTHING sounds so realistic its scary at times. While running through the streets, you suddenly hear the guns blazing, a hail of bullets flying at you, it feels like you're in a real war zone. The engine sounds on Humvees sound realistic too. When you're running for your life from a gunner from a helicopter, you hear it hovering above you, its bullets blazing past you and behind you. You really feel like its happening. That's how scary the sound is. Its even better with Dolby Surround sound.
Controls: 9/10
The controls are like any computer shooter(if you've ever played one), but as most of you know, each shooter has its own unique controls. This one is no different. Very easy pick up and play kind of controls. No lag time whatsoever in response to gun play and running. It's also very easy if you're new to this type of genre on computers. Easy controls just makes the game fun to play. It might take some getting used to, but its not hard to learn. I had the controls down in less than an hour. This won't slow you down at all.
Fun Factor: 8/10
Overall, the game is a definite worthwhile FPS, and it should not be passed up by ANY fans of the genre or who like war. It is very easy to learn the controls, very thrilling sound making you feel like you're in a war zone, and graphics that make BF 1942 look silly (really I prefer this over BF 1942). Vehicles just add more fun to the game although you cannot drive them, but imagine if you could, people would just crash the helicopter or blow up the Humvee. Anyhow, that doesn't bog down the fun of the game. The Value of the game isn't by much but, what saves it is online play. That definitely makes up for the pretty poor Single Player Campaign.
Rent or Buy
Well I don't know of any stores that let you rent a PC game but if you like first person shooters, fast paced action, vehicles and online play, you're definitely not going to want to pass this one by. I give this game an 8/10
