"Most underrated game EVER"

My brothers were playing this game for several months, and I kept hearing them talk about this game all the time. Finally, I picked this game up and gave it a shot. Once I learned the basics of this game, I couldn't stop playing the thing! Stronghold Crusader is by far the best real time war/strategy game I have ever played.

Synopsis:

This is a castle sim in which you build your own castle and defend it from either a European leader, an Arabic leader, or both. The game takes place during the Crusades and features some recognizable names like Saladin the Wise and Emperor Frederick (good ol' Freddy must be downloaded). The goal is to kill the other Lord, which in most cases mean destroying their castle, troops, and any booby traps that have been set for you.

Graphics: 7 of 10

When I first saw my brother play, I was not impressed. However, this is a game that doesn't need stunning visuals. You will become so involved in this game you won't give care at all about appearances.

Sound: 8 of 10

The medieval music plays well into Stronghold: Crusader, and creates a cool atmosphere. The coolest thing is that your foes actually talk smack to you. And when you are about to launch an invasion, they still talk smack, but seem humbled. And when you drive the sword through their heart, its very satisfying. Play the Rat and you will see. Also, when they repel an attack, or launch one, they will boast and make fun of you.

Gameplay: 10 of 10

Truly excellent. There are a few minor quirks that I would love to see fixed in a sequel, like adding a no rush option for the computer (it is allowed in multiplayer). Once you learn the strengths and weaknesses of each foe, its just the beginning. You can fight with or against 7 additional opponents for a total of 8 per game. Not to mention if you download gamespy you can go multiplayer against other humans, and that is where the challenge is. The best part is that even once you think you have an unbeatable strategy, someone will humble you and cause you to second guess yourself.

Overall: 10 of 10

Although I graded other categories lower, the gameplay is so strong that it deserves a perfect score. This game is a MUST for anyone into strategy games or the Crusades. In a nutshell, heres the pros and cons:

PROS: Multiplayer, open-ended gameplay, alot of options.

CONS: WE NEED A NO RUSH OPTION FOR THE COMPUTER
*NOTE: I'm just whining shamelessly. This game doesn't have any glaring flaws.
