This game could have been so close to being perfect- it nearly makes it. It has all the ingredients for a classic game- it could have been the best game for the PC for it's year, but one cannot ignore it's flaws.
I'll start with the graphics. This game holds the best cinemas any game has EVER had. The characters look like humans and move smoothly. I do not exaggerate when I say they are the best cinemas that could have been made. We see special effects that look better than the movie's. But that does not mean that the graphics while actually playing the game are as good. The characters are badly pixelated- bring your character close to the camera and you'll probably get sea-sick from all the many multicolered squares in front of you. Also, the character's movements are terrible when interacting with other characters. His arms wave around like a madman's when he speaks, looking like a badly-dubbed movie from Japan.
The control is simple enough (which is a plus). You simply move the mouse an click on where you want to go or attack, but God help you if your mouse cursor moves jerkily like mine- you'll never get a shot in the direction you want to.
The main problem with the game is that there is little action and you gave no free will. The action moves at the pace of a dead squirrel. Usually, like games with more strategy than action, and I've always been a huge fan of detective games, but this should at least have some more shoot-outs. As for free will? You can't say much to people like you can in the underrated Tex Murphy games. God knows how many times I've wanted to pull my gun out and kill that girl- and I didn't get to ask my boss about what he was doing when I found pictures of him, like I would have in real life. In other words, it has everything but where it counts- keeping you interested.
