Battlefield 1942

"BattleField: 1942 Review"
When EA First announced this game, and they we're building up hype to it, it looked like a multi-player online adventure like no other. But unfortunately, this multi- player paradise isn't all what it seems. With terrible teamwork, choppy graphics and an UNPLAYABLE game with so much lag, it's no surprise it gets a 2/10
Graphics: 4/10
You would expect the standards of PC gaming's graphical power to be very high at this age, but some are still left in the past. You'll notice (IF you buy this game) the game looked like a rushed job to put a few extra $$$ in EA's pocket. Many of the textures are very blurred and choppy and the character textures aren't any better. They're worse. When a player is running toward you, he look's like a rough edged, blurred and lagged choppy mess. Up-close you can actually see the detail on his face and it just shows he's not very polished. Plus the large vehicles don't have very advanced textures either. And don't even get me started on the buildings. I would expect better from a game that built up this much hype
Sound: 1/10
Really, you're probably better off turning the sound OFF. Not many sound effects, but the sound effects that exist don't sound authentic. Poor recordings of teammates yelling ''We got'em on the run!'' or ''The enemy is advancing!''. It's enough to drive you mad at times. And the reason this paragraph on the game is so short, it's because there's not much of it to talk about. Very poor sound indeed
Control: 4/10
The controls are like any computer shooter(if you've ever played one), but as most of you know, each shooter has its own unique controls. This is an example of one, but the problem is the RESPONSE of them. While playing online or single player, there is a lag time between you pressing fire and it actually firing. This also goes for the movement and just about everything else. Also, there are so many buttons and they are so far apart from eachother, you would think they could have developed a control scheme with all the buttons close to eachother would make it a lot easier. Instead if you're in a huge battle just about to be killing by falling out of the sky, you're trying to look for the parachute key. ''No wait that's not it, no......no..... a hah! here it is'', and as you find that button you land on the ground. VERY BAD CONTROL SCHEME
Fun Factor: 2/10
It's a shame a game with such possibility go to waste. The problem with this game is, that it is team based online and I have seen NO teamwork. The game is capture the bases and hold them long enough for the game to end. All I've seen is people either sniping an ''accidentally'' killing you or they are fighting eachother on a battleship, shooting eachother waiting for a plane to spawn. It's obvious there is no teamwork involved. Plus other teams will convict you of cheating and then starts a huge fight that wasn't intended. And if you're planning to host a server online, you'll have to have a lot of friend if you intend too. As you scroll down the server list, every 50th game has a decent amount of people. And if you're impatient on loading times, as you join everyone will have probably left. Also when you buy the game, you're required to download a patch for online play. Now I'm not the only one with this problem, but THIS PATCH SCREWS UP YOU'RE ENTIRE COMPUTER!!!!!!. It causes the game to jump off-screen and causing a problem because you cannot see your health bar. I have now uninstalled this game and I'm returning it. This is a perfect example of a not properly tested game with too many bugs to count.
Buy or Rent
Well I would stick with neither, but if you get a chance to play, go ahead and play it. You'll see the torment I've been through. I give it a 2 out of 10.
