SimCity 2000
Review by Gruel
"Loads of fun to play, and way better than the first one!"
The Game: Much like it's predecessor, Sim City, where you build a city from scratch, and try to populate it as much as you can, earning rewards as your population increases.
Graphics: 8: Unlike its predecessor, Sim City, this game uses an 3/4 view instead of an overhead one. All the buildings look great, especially the tall skyscrapers like the arcolagies. It's cool how your city's animated too like being able to see the flow of traffic, or moving trains, or even airplanes and helicopters flying over your metropolis too.
Sound: 7: There's really not much to say about sound, there's a neat background music, and all the sound effects are done nicely, especially the sound of a disaster destroying your city!
Gameplay: 9: You start off your city by building commericial, residential, and industrial zones, and then you have to give them underground water pipes and make sure the pipes are flowing by putting a water pump in in, and your areas will begin to grow, and so will your population, then you can build all other things a town has like public facilities like librairies, parks, and so on, plus jails, fire stations, and police stations too. You can also check up on these building to see how many fires there has been, and how many people are in the jailhouse, etc. You also gotta make sure to run power lines through your city by building power plants, depending what year you're in, only a certain amount of power plants will be avialable, like in the year 1900 there'll only be a couple of plants like Coal and Hydroelectric, but in the year 2000 there will be loads of new ones, like Wind Power, Solar Power Plants, and even Nuclear Power Plants! You can check up on your towns paper to see what the citizens think of you so you can see what adjustments can be made to satisfy the sims. You can dip your funds into a whole bunch of public services like public safety, recreation, and so on, there's just loads of stuff for you to do here. The coolest part is rewards you get once your town reaches a certain population, like getting a mayor's home, a statue, or even big humongous arcoloagies which hold loads of sims! This would've got a 10 if it weren't for the new water pipe system, becuase it's annoying to put pipes in for every building you build, and to make sure if they're running or not.
Replay Value: 9: The game is so much fun to play, there's certain scenarios you pick to play in like trying to save a city from being flooded, or reaching a certain population within a given amount of years. There's also online play, so you can build a cities against friends too. Plus you can transport a saved City from this game into other Sim games like Sim Copter. There's just so much you can do with this game!
Overall: 8: The game is loads of fun to play, and way better than the original Sim City, the game is so much fun to play you have to try it out, and if you like the Sim games make sure not to miss out on this one!
