Ultima Online
Review by Lachnor
"Cant get much worse than this game!"
Its a good thing you read this review before you bought this game, If you didn't already buy it.
Gameplay-1/10-There are many problems with this game. The biggest problem is PKs (player killers). There are way too many PKs in this game. You spend about ten hours making enough money to buy good armor, weapons, and other things such as bandages, and reagents (for spells). Then, you go out to find some animals to get your skill up by fighting. Suddenly you meet a couple of guys and they are more powerful than you. They instantly attack you or wait to make friends with you and kill you after you are injured. You lose all of your hard earned stuff.
The second problem is making money. The only good paying jobs are very boring or high risk. My character is a miner and it takes forever to get just enough ore to carry.
Another problem with the game is it takes forever to kill your first actual monster. The game is very slow in skill advancement. I have been playing for two months almost every day and only have 3000 gold pieces.
There are also a few internet related problems such as lag, not talking fast enough, hard to find monsters your level, slow running so that dragon you ran into can kill you in an instant, hackers, cheaters, and connection loss.
You also have to pay for the game every month. The price (on: 9-12-99) is $10.00/month (only the first month is free for what you paid for the game.)
Story-5/10-The story is nothing special. You are a hero in the world of many other heroes. You fight evil (most of the players, some just stay in town all day).
Audio/video-6/10-The music is just above the average for todays games. There is a few songs for town, a few songs for the wilderness, and one song for battle.
Replayability-2/10-After about 30 hours of working tediously to go have some fun adventuring (isnt that what you'd buy the game for?). You get killed by some guy's character who is better than yours just because he has been playing a year longer than you have and have to work another 30 hours of doing the same thing.
I play on the Napa Valley shard with a character named Lachnor, he has a beard, short hair and a moustach. If you see me please tell me you read my review of the game. Why I still play: because my brother still wants to keep the game.
Do not try to E-mail the company about PKs in this game I have tried several times and they always say something like stay in town, or travel with a group (its usually the people in the group who kill me).

Do NOT E-mail me hate mail, spam, or complain that you had no problems with this game when you were new, people who have been playing this game since it was made had only rare people who were playing 500 more hours attack them.
Do E-mail questions to me about more of what I think about the game or thank me for warning them about the game and saving them $30.00.
