Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare

Alone In The Dark 4 is a great game. I first played it when it came out and I found it very scary. So when I saw it in the store for $9.99, I had to buy it. I now put it right next to my Resident Evil games.

Story: 8/10

Well you are on plane and something happens. The plans going to crash. Edward Carnby and Aline Cedrac end up on Shadow Island. Edward ends up in the front of the Manor and Aline ends up on the roof of the Manor. You pick your character and you start your adventure.

graphics: 10/10

The graphics for this game is great for its time. The characters are well detailed, and the environments look real. The monsters look good. My only problem with the graphics is that the characters mouths do not move when they talk. There's now a whole lot of FMVs (Full Motion Video) in the game.

Sound: 8/10

The sound is pretty close to the real sounds that you would hear in real life. The sound of lighting will make you jump every time you hear it. The guns sound like guns, and the voice acting is close to perfect, but does sound wrong as Edward is very calm to what is going on around him.

Controls: 7/10

The game is playable with a controller, but I played it with the keyboard. The Controls on the keyboard are full custom to what you like. It does get hard to fight enemy's when they are both in front and behind you. Overall the controls are good for this game.

Gameplay: 9/10

The game play is no Resident Evil game, but it is still good. Monsters can appear only in shadows. To get rid of them just shine your flashlight on them, or turn on the lights. Not all enemy's can be killed that easy. You do have to have to fight sometimes. The Characters do have a bit, but not a lot, different missions. You also have a lot of weapons to choose from. Overall, I think that Darkworks did a great job in this game.

In conclusion, I say it doesn't matter if your a hardcore gamer, or someone who is thinking of picking up the title, buy it. On the PC it is really cheap to buy. (got my copy for only $9.99)If you rent it you would have paid 50% the cost of the game. I like this game a lot, and Have beaten it twice through with both Characters.
