The Sims: Superstar

Review by NessSnorlax

"A good expansion pack"

I am a owner of all 6 expansion packs, the most recent one being Superstar. Superstar is one of the better ones that Maxis has created.

STORY: X out of 10

The reason why I gave the story X out of 10 is that you choose the story, like in every expansion pack for The Sims and the original game. You can choose to be an actor who makes best selling movies at the box office, or a normal family made up of 2 adults and 2 children.

GRAPHICS: 7 out of 10

The graphics of The Sims: Superstar are no different than it was in the original version of The Sims when it first came out in 2000. You can consider the new objects, build mode things, and skins new graphics. The animation is smooth and responsive, however for some people, you might experience some slowdown while you're in Studio Town (explain later).

MUSIC: 9 out of 10

The music is basically the same as it was in the original version of The Sims. It isn't annoying, but it isn't the best music ever. There's the new music for the Studio Town lot selection screen and when you play in the Studio Town lot itself.

SOUND: 5 out of 10

The sound, to put in simple terms, is repetitive. The Sims say their ''simlish'' language, which is just some random gibberish, over and over again. It doesn't bother me, but it's repetitive. The more annoying sounds, however, are the insects that fly over the plates when it's left out, because it makes a consistent buzzing noise if you don't clean the plates up, and the burglar alarm, which makes a annoying buzzing noise for a couple of seconds. Those two sounds are some of the most annoying sounds you will find in the game.

CONTROLS: 10 out of 10

To describe the controls of The Sims: Superstar in one word, that word would be simple. You just click to do things like place furniture and click on objects to make your Sims do a particular action.

GAMEPLAY: 10 out of 10

The Sims: Superstar's most notable feature is Studio Town, where you work, visit, and do some more things.

Every day, along with the news paper, the paper girl will deliver a new pamphlet with information about Studio Town, where you can see who's the most popular actor/singer/fashion model, and hire a agent if you want to go to Studio Town to work. Like when you call a cab to go to Downtown, Vacation Island, or Old Town (added in Hot Date, Vacation, and Unleashed respectively), you have to call a cab to get to Studio Town to work. You use items and make friends with celebrities to become a Superstar.

Your Sim can also visit Studio Town as a visitor, where you can shop, hang out at clubs, and do more things, but I don't think it's as fun when you actually work in Studio Town.

There's also some new items, like a satellite dish, which lets you receive new television channels, a new pool table, a scuba tank where you can dive around, and many more new items.

REPLAY VALUE: 10 out of 10

This game will never end, and it's pretty fun. Play as long as you want, and this game will never end.

THE BIG QUESTION: Buy or rent?

If you have the money, you should buy, because this expansion pack is good, and since you can't rent computer games, you should ask your friend if they can lend this game to you.

OVERALL: 8 out of 10

THE GOOD PARTS: Studio Town, the ability to control your Sims while they work (only in Studio Town), and some cool new items.

THE BAD PARTS: The sounds are annoying, and it only adds one major thing

I liked it, and you should buy this expansion, but it isn't the best one ever.
