"A good game to use as a basline!"

I saw this game in Woolworths when it first came out. I thought ''hmm looks good! But I can't afford that!'' So I look on eBay and manage to get it cheapish. I receive it and the PC won't run it! Anyway we get a new PC and I load it. And the rest is to follow:

Graphics 9/10
OK, they can be improved, but form what other games in this genre are like, the graphics are great! Only a couple of glitches but I'm a nice bloke and I'll let them go unnoticed. Sometimes a bit jerky, but this could be because of my computers specs. Otherwise, not bad. The weapons tracer is highly effective and helps you out a lot.

Sound 10/10
''Position Ahead!'' ''Man Down! Man Down!'' ''Coming Through!'' Ahhh, great yells from the battlefield! I give these a 10 as the voices are clear, loud and best of all they are different for each character of both nationalities! The explosions are nearly close to real life, and the Iraqis shouting...LOL! Also, the gunfire is very accurate in the noise department, with me constantly being told to ''turn it down!'' by my dad. Real good stuff.

Player Friendliness (is that a word?) 7/10
Well, the PC version certainly has many problems with the controls: including the keys used being too spread out. It requires three hands! But SCi, in the kind generosity, have included a key configuration so that you can make up your own assignments! Making the game controls a hell of a lot easier to reach and understand!

Replayability 10/10
I have now done this game at least four times, and have just completed it on hard (if you want proof, I'l be on the PS2 CDS board). This game gives many hours of fun and presents a new challenge after every mission. There are mulitple path solutions so that you can do a level over and over and over and ov...you get the point. There is no set way in to complete a mission, earning this game a massive 10!

Multiplayer ?/10
OK I'll admit I haven't managed to play CDS on the net because somethings wrong with my PC. Going by the PS2 version, it's great playing with a friend, as every character is in use by a human player. There are many multiplayer modes to play, including the Desert Storm Campaign! Which sounds good.

So, as you can imagine, I like this game loads. Everything about it is near-perfect. Being a huge SAS fan, I was delighted when I found that you could use them. Anyway, I've managed to write more in this review that I have in most of my English essays (put together!), so I'll leave you with one last section:

Rent or Buy?
I'm shouting BUY at the monitor as I type this. But, seriously, if you like this type of game, definitely but it, as it is a great addition to your war-themed game collection. If you are unsure, I strongly suggest Rent it, play a mission or two, then see if you like it then buy it!
