"Uberfuturistic RTS along the vein of CC"

Take Command and Conquer, place it in the distant future where some ground troops can morph intro trees or rocks to evade detection, and change the planes into space ships, and you have Dark Reign.

The game, in my mind, disappointed. There wasn't any one major flaw that took the game down.. in fact, some visuals, some concepts... brilliant. But as a whole, I can do nothing but consign this game to the pit. Three sides battle form intergalatic dominance (and or survival and or ideological superiority)... heard it before. One of them develops time travel technology and takes their superior technology to go searching for their lost leader some centuries earlier.. yet their units pretty much run as good or as poor as the others. That's baffling. Anyway, the resource, instead of tiberium, is water (because drinking water is rare... all the major bodies of water have been planetarily bombarded with some toxin or another). Okay.

The gameplay certainly is alright, the groups can make or break formation easily, group create remember et cetera... the game is good, it just fails to shine, and I feel bad about saying that. I can only say I have high hopes for the sequel, and I hope those hopes aren't mislaid.
