Grom: Terror in Tibet
Review by captaincanadian
"An average and very frustrating RPG shooting game"
Introduction - GROM or GROM : Terror in Tibet takes place in , you guessed it , Tibet . Your characters , mainly Grom will pick up weapons and ammo as you go using things like a bluderbuss , rifle , sword , mauser pistol , and one of the best weapons , a cutoff shotgun . Be prepared to face some frustrating times with this game . This is partly considered a role playing game because if you use the weapons enough your skill with it will increase in areas such as damage , accuracy , whether it will jam as often , and I think speed .
Gameplay - This game can be very hard although most of the frustration is due to the fact that your characters will die very fast and unlike most role playing games with multiple characters where you would assume that you just have to keep the main character , Grom , alive . No in this game if one person dies in your little group its game over . You need to save often . Because of this LITTLE detail ( sarcasm if you didn't notice ) you must save often and since you will die so often you will keep on playing and the game can take a while . Another example of difficulty ( which you also can't change by the way ) is you have to fight about 20 FREAKING GERMAN SOLDIERS . Also it seems that every german soldier in this game has an unlimited amount of grenades . The game isn't so hard that you feel like taking it out of your computer to smash it into tiny little bits though . No if you can stay cool enough you CAN beat the game .
Story - You are Grom a former polish officer , the main character in the game and throughout the game you will have many companions including Petr and yes , you asked for it , A YAK , YAY . At the very beginning you will see a nazi balloon go by ( of which Grom has no fond feeling for considering he was kept in a labor camp by them ) while you are with your with your smuggling partner Petr and the yak . After a bit of dialogue you can sell all that whiskey . However , I digress . The story is not that bad although it could be better . Also as the game progresses be careful of who you give certain items to as some people will leave your group and even if they come back will not have those items they had before ( also includes yak ) .
Graphics and Sound - The sounds and graphics are ok but could be a lot better . For example in one part with many flying demons you will notice that the system will move very slow . Also when people are talking it would have been better if you could hear the voices talking all the time instead of picking and choosing as some parts have the sounds but most don't . On average though the sounds and graphics are not that bad .
Play Time and Replayability - as mentioned above if one member of the group dies and considering how much damage the weapons do against you ( not THEM , they always seem to take less damage ) , you will most likely have to replay parts whether you want to or not . By the time you actually beat the game I don't know if you would want to play the whole game again or not considering there is only one difficulty level .
Final Recommendation - At some places this game is less than $20 , and its not a terrible game , just a frustrating one . However I recommend that you DO NOT pay more than $30 for it , but it's not the worst game in the world and I'd say get it .
