Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory
Review by Dark101
"Another Mouth Dropping ID game but free :)"
So far another great ID game and its free which is a plus. I own RTCW and I was always waiting for the day this game came out. I was hoping for a single player but the other company took to long. That's ok because with a High Speed Line and already knowing the Wolf Settings. I was off.
Graphics:10/10
They used the Quake 3 engine. It always has looked good. If you have a good enough graphics card, just turn it up full and you should be good and it will look great. I actually quit playing Medal of Honor just for this game's graphic's.
Sounds:9/10
These sound are alright. They have changed since Return To Castle Wolfenstien though. They guns sound great but the silencer..is another story. It sound alright but not the greatest. Also the grenade prime sounds like twigs being snapped. It's alright though because all the other guns especially the Thompson and MP-40 are great and so really good.
Controls:10/10
First Person Game controls of course. Mouse and keyboard. Everything is easy to use and understand so people shouldn't have problems.
Gameplay:9/10
It's a World War Two game. So expect a world war two experience and setting. It doesn't really involve in normal world war two stuff though. No running up the d-day beaches or breaking into Hitler's house. They do have beach level but it's in Africa so it's just not quite the same as Omaha. You have to steal gold, blow generators and anti-aircraft up and much more. 6 maps and they now have a map maker so their should be much more to come.
Multiplayer:10/10
Relies on your connection. As usual nothing these days works with 56k. You need high speed since alot of servers don't use anti-lag. Their is no cheating and lag seems be tame. It may be laggy at the start but then usually clears up in about 2 minutes depending on your connection. There is a few servers running other maps(aside from the ones that game with the game) and a lot just doing normal 3-map campaigns or the whole 6-map campaigns. Their is something new called ''XP''. You build that up over the campaign to give you more stuff. In Example. A medic can have an extra clip,a lot more health droppings, full heal morphine, adrenaline needle and much more. Gives this game an extra challenge. Their is also objective which is basically try to steal the ''Objective'' until the time limit is done and then just looking at your scores and hope to win, XP resets after each map and their is Stopwatch which is where you change teams after a number amount of times on one team. The problem with multi-player which I hope they fix is the slowdown. Like I said it really depends on your connection but a lot of the time you will experience lag. Not just the sudden slowdown..enough slowdown to make you start missing the enemy. I think its just all the gunfire at once and then levels like battery with this huge ocean behind you. I really hope they fix that and when they do I think this will be the ultimate freeware game.
End of my review and I give it 10/10 for another great ''freeware'' id game.
