Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption

"This blood is half warm!"
Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption
Blood huh? This blood was mediocre… at least that’s what I thought. This game is Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption! Draw your fangs and listen to this review.
Story = 7- The OK story in this game is… well ok. A holy fighter falls in battle. He is barely saved by a Nun. They end up liking each other. Then for some reason other things end up happening that is tied to this that make sense…but…I think they could have tried harder to make the story more interesting.
Graphics/Sound (Quality) = 9.5- The Graphics in this game were beautiful! Everything looked the way it should have. Dark in the night, Bright in the day. The caves and backgrounds looked good too. The sound was also good. Except sometimes the music got a little repetitive in certain places. But the music was still good for the mood.
Gameplay = 7.5- Playing this game was like playing the game before they perfected it. Sometimes it just felt like something’s were still missing.
Here’s a scenario: You’ve been fighting in a castle for a long time. You go up these stairs. These ghosts come out (keep in mind they are just regular bad guys). And for some reason I found myself having more challenge than I had fighting an old boss. I just thought to myself and tried over and over again. And I finally did it. Ok skip a few minutes. You make it to the end of another castle and you beat the boss on the first try. No struggle or anything. See what I’m saying? The bad guys were just un-equalized.
Also the fighting was repetitive. Which I have no beef with because Diablo was the same way (I loved Diablo). But what made it worse was the frequent missing! I think I had a 10% chance of hitting anybody. This may sound like I’m just complaining…but just trust me. But there were good things too. I actually like the hack n’ slash fighting style in an RPG. The items are also good except later on. They get worse and they are the only weapons you really have access to after a while.
::Sigh::. Multiplayer… I thought it would be fun. And it was until I noticed that everybody had their stats on 100. I started wondering if everyone was hacking…But nooooo…..The creators of the game chose to trust the people who play the game (The Game Master) to put up anybodies stats as much as they want. That doesn’t sound as bad unless I say: Anybody can become a Game Master whenever they want and just make themselves a god. So within a minute I’m playing as a character that has every spell stat and anything else the highest level possible. This makes the game so not fun because also when you are the Game Master you can take over anyBODY and I mean ANYBODY! Including the Player’s the NPC’s and the Bad Guys. This also makes the game boring and unfair. Playing Multiplayer is a Bajillion times worse. BAJILLION!
But playing the game was still fun. And I didn’t mind playing the game with all these flaws (except I quit multiplayer the same day).
Replay Value/Play Time = 6.5- My reaction to beating this game was very simple: ::Yawn:: ::Wishing he didn’t have to play the game ever again:: (And I didn’t want to play it ever again! After I beat this game I felt like I just finished a chore! I didn’t want to ever play that game again (and I didn’t). There are no unlockables and no secret item’s. The replay value to this game is laughable…HA!
The game took me about 16 hour’s to complete. That isn’t that bad. But It was kind of short and they almost rushed through things some times.
Final Score = 7- I would give this game a 7.5 …but I can’t so I won’t give it an 8 because it doesn’t deserve that. The game is only $10. If you are looking for a pretty good RPG to play. Get this game. It is only $10. You WILL get your moneys worth no matter what. You get what you pay for.
