"For everyone who wanted to command huge fleets in the Star Wars universe"
Star Wars: Rebellion takes place right after the Battle of Yavin which is from The first Star Wars Movie. You take control of either the rebel Alliance or the galactic Empire. Basically the fate of the galaxy is in your hands.
GAMEPLAY
Rebellion is a hard game at first, and you may be discouraged from playing it unless you thoroughly read the manual. But once you get used to the interface and the game it’s self, it gets much more fun, as you are able to deploy fleets, send characters on missions, and basically take over the galaxy. The object of the game is to Take or destroy the enemy headquarters and capture their key characters. Early in the game you have only a handful of planets, troops, ships, characters etc. But as the game progresses you can build more facilities, take more planets, and build up your fleet. Most of the game involves a lot of clicking and waiting early on but it gets better as you expand your empire or rebellion. There is only one mode of play although you can adjust it to make the game shorter. Rebellion also features a tactical game for space battles that is like a game within a game.
STORY
There is really no story but I included this section anyway because there’s something that only fits here: For diehard Star Wars fans this game does not follow what any of the planets actually have. Every planet is randomly seeded with facilities, troops, and ships. The exceptions are the imperial capital is always in the same place and the rebels always have Yavin. The game always starts right after the Battle of Yavin.
GRAPHICS and SOUND
The graphics aren’t really much to speak of, even when this game came out. The tactical games graphics are bad, but its still fun. The FMVs were done very well though.
The sound is basically just different star wars music, that after awhile may get boring, and if you have a newer computer you may want to listen to your own music once you get started. The FMV music is just classic star wars. But that’s about all that’s interesting here.
PLAYTIME/REPLAYABILITY
The games are very long, and most of the time you will have to save and come back the next day to finish one game. But fortunately if the game ever gets slow you have an encyclopedia of everything that’s in the game that you can read while playing.
This game is very replayable even after you beat it. You can go back and play as the other side your play a larger galaxy. Or perhaps there’s another strategy you would like to use, the possibilities are endless.
FINAL RECCOMENDATION
You may want to try this before you buy it if its possible, built by now its pretty cheap and I suggest you just buy it. You may also want to check to see if you can find anyone to play it with in your area (online) because I’ve heard people say it gets boring after awhile. In conclusion this is an excellent game for the star wars fanatic who ever wanted to Command the galaxy.
