"Way, WAY better than expected"
I wasn't looking forward to this game. Westwood studios aren't exactly my favorite developer, but this game sure surprised me. I got the demo and I thought the multiplayer was too shallow. Gettin' clobbered all the time isn't the best way to get used to anything. But I bought the final version anyways. And guess what? It was worth it
Story:
when I read it in the manual, I though I made a mistake buying this game, but when it gets to the game itself, it is quite funny. The thing is, the manual only tells the story of the character, which may sound silly at first, on the intro movie it's quite funny. The story of the land of NOX is quite intersting and deep. Westwood studios did a smart thing telling the story while the game was intalling.
Graphics:
This game has a great feature. When you get in front of the pillar, you can't see what's behind it, because there's a BLACK ( not transparent, but THICK BLACK( shadow on the opposite side. Same goes for walls. The shadow follows your movement perfectly. It takes a while to get used to it, but then you realize how nice it is. The rest is your average Diablo clone grafics.
Sound:
Do yourself a favor and click .wav files on the installation. This game benefits from great lines and great voice acting, and it would be a mistake to disable .wavs just to save 50MB of your hard drive. The music is ok. The sound effects are quite nice also.
Gameplay:
This game has an EXTREMELY GOOD interface. You can do anything within a click away. This game has an original multiplayer game. It's kind of like Quake, where all characters go at a free for all. The difference, of course is the spells and skills your class has. The weapons too. This game has 5 different multiplayer modes. The only problem with it is the fact that when you die, you lose all your weapons that you've collected, in other words, you better live 'cause you axe is excellent. You get mighty pissed off when you die, which is a bad thing. The single player is also excellent, but a little linear. I don't care about linearity anyways.
Replay:
Multiplayer should keep ya busy and the single player game is different with each different character ( 3 in all)
This game is very good, and it's reccomended. Most people are going to ignore it 'cause Diablo is coming in a few months and ''this should keep me busy 'till Diablo 2 comes'' is going to be said over and over again, but this game deserves more attention.
