Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis

"The most intense modern war game yet!"

Imagine this: Your at a small town, with your friends. You feel secure with the defences established by the guys on duty, tanks are on standby just in case...but that shatters when a Soviet RPG flies into the anti-aircraft guns. You grab your MI6 from the ground and your squad of eight follow you to see what is going on, Soviet soldiers are streaming over the small hill like ants, one goes down after the other thanks to your allies but the defence is falling fast. As you pick some off from a manned-machine gun you hear a couple of tanks heading your way... you begin to retreat up a larger hill but then the tanks fire upon you, killing several of your friends but you continue running until you reach the top, you look back to see a Hind dropping paratroopers into the town and they are after you...

Graphics: On my computer, the graphics are outstanding. You can see the wonderful scenery for miles, a rare beauty in a game. 10/10

Sound: Sound is almost perfect, but in some cut scenes to the main game it can be quite dodgey. 8/10

Gameplay: The big highlight. You can take any vechile such as a helicopter, tank, or even a tractor, and use it to fight your enemy and race around the islands. Aircraft also give you a radically different perspective as those tanks which were once big and scary to you are as tiny as mice. Combat is even better...there is nothing like keeping yourself alive when you are outnumbered 10 to 1 with friendlies on their way. The combat is a bit tricky to get used to at first as you may find out that you may be killed the first few times you play it, but learn from your mistakes and you will definatly enjoy it! 10/10

Lifespan: 40 odd missions, plenty of mission packs and the big thing...The best and most easiet (SP?) mission editor ever made. Make whatever you want from a group of 12 town girls stealing a truck to a paradrop into enemy terroritory. (Sp? again!) I don't really know how to use the multiplayer yet because I keep getting distracted playing around with the mission editor to see if I can possibly take on 5 BMPs with just me and an empty tank with full ammunition... 10/10

Overall: MY FAVE GAME! Sorry, I had to shout it out. This game is far too unappreciated by the average FPS player who hasn't faced any changles (SP?). Nothing is better then sending a group of Ruskies or Americans into the air with a sabot-round!
