The Sims: Makin' Magic
Review by digimax
"One of the best Expansion Packs"
I find that Makin' Magic is one of the best of all ''The Sims'' expansion packs, simply because there is really *stuff* in this pack. Unlike the previous expansion, this one is huge, hence the package has 2 discs. However, bear in mind that you require the original ''The Sims'' game to play Makin' Magic.
Graphics 8/10
Basically, the same Sims graphics in the original game. There isn't much difference except for the new objects. This expansion contains quite a number of new objects and a lot of wallpaper and tiles, as well as the rooftop designs. The Expansion Pack (EP) has a lot more graphics so its on 2 discs.
Sound 9/10
Really cool sounds that make the world really feel real. There is this ride thing that you can create on a ''MagicTown'' lot. MagicTown is a new location that sims can explore. This ride thing is rather cool as your sims ride it, the sounds are authentic to real rides. Hear the pneumatics go tssh tsssh... Other than that, there's a lot of incantations sounds since the sims say something slightly different everytime you cast the same spell... Cool.
Gameplay 9/10
A Mysterious Man drops a brown package at your doorstep, and inside is all the stuff you need to Make Magic!! The main point of this EP is to make magic and cast them during gameplay. There are different types of magic, one is portable spells while the other is ''in-house'' charms. Basically, you collect ingredients or buy them at MagicTown, and mix them correctly, then you can charge a wand, or make a charm. Wand Spells are really fun as you can cast them whenever you like, but Charm Spells are object items which you must be at the object to cast. There are also an oven, a nectar press and also the butter making thing, which you could sell the produce.
Replayability 9/10
As this is a sim game, its replay is high, because you just can't get bored to the max! Its really interesting plus the fact that you could earn special abilities to do amazing stuff, such as teleporting instead of walking! Possibilities are endless, its the sims!!
Final Comment:
I find that this is one of the few expansion packs worth buying as there is much stuff in it. Also, installing this EP would solve most problems. Generally speaking, some of the EP only have bland boring stuff but this is good.
Buy or pass?
If you are a Sims fan, or you have ''The Sims'', BUY
Pass if you don't have ''The Sims'', you need that to play (its a seperate product)
