The Sims: Superstar
Review by OSAJ
"Finally, fame and fortune, just what The Sims needed!"
Graphics 10/10
Well, computer games usually have good graphics, but this game is exceptional. It is rare to be able to see so much detail in a video game world, the interactions used with items are perfect, at least most of the time when you're using Maxis Made objects. Most user made objects, like mine, usually end up very messed up. That's mostly the fault of the item's creator. Of course, the graphics are slow and confusing on slower on older computers so it's better to use Windows 2000 and up, because most other computers are too slow. Windows 98 and lower are either not compatible with this game or the game is excruciatingly slow. Of course, computers can always be upgraded to fit your needs.
Gameplay 10/10
It's one of those games that you cannot put down for hours, and only stop to use the bathroom or eat. It's one of those rare finds that you don't often see much anymore, and it's easier than most console games and the exciting action/adventure or rpg games on the computer. But it's also one of those games that you may not enjoy it if you cheat. Oh well, it's better to play legitimately than cheat, right? Okay, well, I guess if your sim really needs a buck or two so they can have food to eat, it's okay to cheat to get them money when needed. Some of the nice little things you can use are the downloads from the sims dot com. One of the most useful are the vending machines. It's cheaper food. It really comes in handy when you're low on cash. One useful utility is the art studio program available on the official web site. It allows you to convert picture files into paintings for use in the game. I use it regularly.
replayability
Are you kidding? Of course this game can be replayed. In fact, you could play for an almost unlimited amount of time with one family. And if your sim is about to die, you can quickly save, return to the neighborhood and move them back in with all needs. Their job will be the same, too. If they have five fame stars, they will still be that famous.
buy or rent?
Buy. Definitely buy. Actually, you can only really rent a console version of the game. You could borrow it from a friend, but you would be very unhappy when you have to return it. It's a definite buy, a game where it's either buy or never play.
