Titanic: Adventure out of Time
Review by Kain Highwind
"One of the best sleeper hits!!"
Introduction: You get to relive the voyage of the Titanic on the night of the disaster! This game is a point and click game with a little bit of puzzle solving. (More on that later) You will most likely find this game in a bargain in bin at your Wal-Mart. If you do find it, then buy it! This is one of the best point and click games, EVER!
Graphics: One word describes the graphics of this game; GREAT! The details in this game are great. You can see even the smallest details, like a menu next to the Purser. The people look real, especially the main characters. However, there is one bad thing about the normal, non-important people in this game, they DON'T have eyes!! The Titanic looks like the real Titanic and the one in the movies. Your items are very detailed too. You can even see the writing on a pack of cigarettes. Overall, the graphics are GREAT!
Sound: For a pretty relaxing game, the music and sounds are FREAKY! For example, the music in the Cargo Room is something you would hear when you are by yourself in a haunted mansion. The music, even though it's nightmare inducing, is great! The sounds are near perfect, too. When you are in the boiler rooms, you can hear the men hard at work shoveling. The voices sound real and European too.
Story: This isn't a Final Fantasy story, but a good one regardless. You are a British secret agent who failed his mission on the Titanic. Your apartment gets bombed, and you get sent back in time to retry your mission. You have to help people, and find items that are vital to your mission. You will also have to live through the disaster.
Gameplay: As a point and click game, you move around and click items and people. When you click on someone and talk to them, it sort of becomes a text adventure. Different outcomes will happen sometimes depending on what you say. You also have to pick up items, and they all are either mission items or subtle clues. Speaking of items, there are MANY interactive items that you can click on. There is also something you wouldn't find in any old point and click game, action. You can do some things like fight and fence. You also have to do some things that turn this game into a puzzle game, like fixing a machine in the engine room. This turns the game into a Point and Click/Action/Text Adventure/Puzzle game. There are also MANY side quests.
Replay value: This game has great replay value. There are about 6 different endings depending on what items you get and what people you help. There is also a mode called, ''Tour'' where you can just explore and look around the Titanic without doing your mission. This is fun because you can look at the Titanic without any objectives. You can also say different things to different people each game to see the differences in what they say. This game is also pretty short. I beat it in about 3 hours.
Graphics-9/10
Sound-10/10
Gameplay-9/10
Replay Value-10/10
Overall: This game is one of the best point and clicks EVER! Like I said earlier, if you find this game in the bargain bin, then by all means get it! If you don't, then you will miss out on a great game.
