The Elder Scrolls: Chapter II: Daggerfall
Review by MegaPowerNinja
"One of the best RPGs EVER."
Pre-Review: I first learned of the Elder Scrolls series when I was hanging out with an old friend of mine. I borrowed this game along with the first Dungeon Keeper game and was blown away by both. Lets get on with this.
Graphics: 7/10
For a game made in its time frame, the graphics are decent enough, but they really don't stand out from other titles at all. Yeah, they're pretty run-of-the-mill.
Sound: 6/10
I'm not going to lie, most of the sound effects in this game were beyond terrible. In fact, there wasn't a very wide variety at all. Truly a shame.
Music: 7/10
Most of the music in this game was rather unimpressive and I had it turned off most of the time, but there were a few melodies that managed to stick in my head although they are all lost to me now. Yes, the music in this game leaves much to be desired.
Gameplay 10/10
This is the biggest redeeming factor of this game. The incredible gameplay. There is so much to be done in this beast its ridiculous. First off, you are able to completely customize your character class, spells and weapons (provided you are high enough rank in certain organizations) Secondly, there is no end to the quests in this game (As they are randomly generated they are infinite.) Thirdly, the land is just so friggin huge. To run across the continent would literally take days.
Not to mention the fact that the number of towns and dungeons numbers above 1000. I could go on but I want to finish this review sometime tonight.
Misc Factors:
Addiction Factor: 4/5
A game that can literally go on forever is pretty addicting isn't it? yes it is.
Fun Factor: 5/5
This game is one of the most fun I have ever played. There is just so much to do and so many ways to to it.
Difficulty: 4/5
Depending on what kind of class you are this game can either be of reasonable difficulty or one of the hardest things you've ever done. However there is no 'easy' way through it.
Replay Value: 5/5
There is no reason to not play this game over and over again. Each class gives you a different approach to the game and a whole new experience.
Ninja's Note: One of the biggest drawbacks to this game is the vast multitude of bugs. Technically, this game really isn't even finished. Bethesda pretty much said **** it.
Buy this game? If you're a fan of the Elder Scrolls series, or just liked Morrowind, then you MUST at least try out its predecessor. If not, steer clear of this one.
Buy this game? If you're a fan of old school RPGs
I also suggest:
If you're looking for godly RPGs try these out:
Morrowind: Game of the Year Edition (XBOX/PC)
Baulder's Gate 1 and 2 (PC)
Fallout 1 and 2 (PC)
