Septerra Core: Legacy of the Creator
Review by stuntmanjbc
"One of my favorite PC games"
I found this game at my local Wal-Mart one day. It came with Shogo: Mobile Armor Division (also a great game)in a two-for-the-price-of-one deal for $9.99. My first thoughts were ''Since this is only ten bucks these games must suck, but what the hay.'' Boy was I ever wrong. Not only did I like both games, there also some of my favorite games.
Anyway let's get on with the review...
STORY: 8/10
Not the most compelling or intriguing storyline but it works enough to carry you through to the end.
CONTROLS: 9/10
Not really any problems here except it gets a little jerky sometimes; very easy to learn.
GAMEPLAY: 10/10
Spectacular! I can't think of one bad thing to say about the gameplay. All you need to know about movement can be learnt in 5 to 10 minutes. Battles happen right where they are( Its the same pattern as Chrono Trigger.) Unlike most RPGs, your party members are actually seen while moving.
One of the minor cons of this game is that it gets a little too hard later in the game, but if you can get past this little fact, it's not a big deal.
GRAPHICS: 10/10
Top notch is a huge understatement when telling of the graphics. Wonderful 3-D movie scenes, beautiful environment, what else can I say? I bet if they converted this to a console, the PC version would still look better.
SOUND: 10/10
Absolute perfection in every aspect! Although there is no music when walking around with exceptional areas, the battle music sounds like it was performed by an orchestra. I even try to delay fights just so I can enjoy the music sometimes.
Sound FX are nice, clean, and crisp. The voice overs are excellent. Every single word is spoken which leads me to the acting. The actual acting is better than most films I've seen.
REPLAY VALUE: Moderately High
I have beat this game 4 times and I still love playing this.
This game always has me coming back for more.
OVERALL: 10/10
As I said before, this is one of my favorite games for PC.
Fans of Chrono Trigger will probably like this game.
BOTTOM LINE:
Buy this game if you can. This is not a very rare game so you shouldn't have that much trouble finding a copy at Wal-Mart, Target, or any store that sells PC games. Only $10.
You really get your dollars worth for this game. I am also going to do a review soon for Shogo:MAD, the other game with the double pack. This is also a very good game.
Be sure to check it out!
