The Simpsons: Hit & Run
Review by LeonL
"A VERY good game with some small flaws inside"
I really wanted to play Final Fantasy 7 at first, until I just found out they ran out of stock. Searching through the Internet, I finally found a game (Simpsons: Hit and Run) which actually looked pretty good. So I got it.
Gameplay: 8/10
The Simpsons: Hit and run has quite a unique gameplay. Instead of the usual racing games where there are so many boundaries, this game allows you to search through the big huge town of Springfield, letting you do almost anything you want. Running people over, crashing and blowing up cars, driving away from the police, kicking people's behinds and so on. The only flaw I had found in the category was the camera angles and the difficulty. The camera angles really made it hard to run or drive and the difficulty of each mission was pretty hard. Thanks to these flaws alone, I had only completed about 1/10 of the game officially.
Graphics: 10/10
Ooh! Not bad here. The graphics here are really good. Unlike the N64 graphics, there are no holes, spaces, bugs or glitches I can notice in the game. The graphics are pretty smooth and the people really look like the cartoons, only in 3D animation. The only bad thing is that the people don't look real enough. But hey, they're cartoons!
Story: 10/10
Ok, the story. To put it short, strange things has been happening in the town of Springfield, like black vans, bee cameras, aliens and so on. Now it's up to the Simpsons family to save the day. Go through each character and play their story. Yeah, that's about it. But really, when you play it, you'll want to give it a 10. Why? Because each of the character's story link nicely to the real trouble in the town and the side stories are really good.
Replayability: 12/10
Geez, I really can't take it. There are SO many things to do in this town. Seriously! Firstly, there are 7 levels, each level has 7 missions and 1 bonus mission. So that adds up to 56 missions already! Then there the races, about 3 per level, so that's 21 races. Then you have to collect all the vehicles, all the character costumes, all the coins, kill all the bee cameras, get all the cards, go on a road rage streak and so much more! You can NEVER EVER fully complete the game on your first try. This had got to be the best area for the Simpsons: hit and run game.
Overall: 10/10
Add the the marks up and you get 40/40, a perfect score. Though I barely completed 1/10 of the story missions, got only about 50% of the cars and so on, I can still say: this is good!!!!! In fact, you can say that the reason I only completed so little of the game could be because the game has too many things to do.
Rent or buy?
Buy of course! In Australia, it should cost you around 50-70 bucks and in America should be about 30 bucks. Trust me, once you play this game, you won't quit until you're 80 yrs old!
