"I dont care if its free, its Average at best."
When I first heard from a friend about Gunbound, I thought it would be a good game. Then when I finally started to play, I admit it was amusing. But then I just realized this is nothing more than a carbon-copy of Worms, only differences are:
-You can only use 1 kind of tank a battle, and it’s basically the equivalent of just using a Grenade or Bazooka from Worms.
-Lack of movement, they only allow you tank to move a given space.
-Some tanks are stronger than others, and weaker. Basically, you’re pretty boned if you play against someone who has a tank that can beat yours.
-Gunbound is so horribly random. I got 1 turn after shooting a regular shot; the next guy takes a super shot, and then goes the very next turn. I can’t even tell you how many times Sudden death starts right after the turn I finish.
-The special effects, such as hurricanes and Ion storms (as what I call them anyway) appear on different locations. Fine right? No., because 1 can appear RIGHT AFTER YOUR TURN and be right next to you, so your opponent can do extra damage.
Now that I have pointed out the bad stuff, on to the parts this game does right.
Graphics: 8/10
The Simple graphics in this game are very cutesy poo graphics, which actually fits perfectly and efficiently. The only thing is there are much better 2D graphics out there. The explosions are nice (very nice actually, this is the best visual part of the game), but the terrain and sprites could be better.
Music: 4/10
I hate the music, it’s too boring. While it does fit the game atmosphere, it doesn’t fit this kind of genre. Most of the soundtrack sounds like you’re shopping at a mall or something. The only song I liked was one that kind of sounds Like an Old Megaman Theme, using a bit of rock and roll. The rest of the soundtrack annoyed me however.
Sound: 10/10
Perfect actually. The Explosions and the points chinning fit perfectly. Even the movements of the tanks/animals are sounded perfectly.
Game play (Includes Control, Playability, and Fun)
Ill restate the parts that contains problems for each part:
Control: 5/10
-Gunbound is so horribly random. I got 1 turn after shooting a regular shot; the next guy takes a super shot, and then goes the very next turn. I can’t even tell you how many times Sudden death starts right after the turn I finish.
Add to that:
-Damn Meter Bar isn’t very truthful. You can shoot 1 shot at 45 degrees with your meter at full, and it barely goes out the screen. Somehow, the same thing would happen if you shot at the same angle, but only ¾ the bar, at it would still somehow go even farther than the full meter shot. How? I don’t know.
-Hurricanes are too unpredictable. Replace the full shot with not even close to someone, and replace ¾ to ½ and it would fly over them.
Now I may have exaggerated there, but that’s what happens to a lot of people I see playing the game.
Playability: 3/10
-You can only use 1 kind of tank a battle, and it’s basically the equivalent of just using a Grenade or Bazooka from Worms.
-Lack of movement, they only allow you tank to move a given space.
-Some tanks are stronger than others, and weaker. Basically, you’re pretty boned if you play against someone who has a tank that can beat yours.

Add to all that:
-You can use items. Too bad most of them are rather useless. The only ones using are Dual (2 shots) and
-Some people shoot like 5 shots at once, without using a dual or any other item, and just by doing a regular shot. The only tank I know that shoots 5 is the missile one. But some people shoot like 5 lasers with the satellite tank, and then go the next turn. I kid you not. Almost every game I have been in with someone using that damn tank has done that.
The only thing worth good for saying is that each tank fires unique bullets. But basically it’s just like shooting a Bazooka (or in some cases, throwing a grenade) from worms.
Fun: see Control and playability. Also, most people who I have seen play it are either Noobies who apparently have no idea how to play a video game (such as shooting themselves by just tapping their spaces), **** head’s, little kids who threat to hack, but there are the few who actually just want to play the game. 5/10
Replay Value: 9/10
Yes, you’ll probably play a lot to get those funky looking avatars. Actually well worth the effort, the little guys look damn near adorable and funny. Also, so you can get more of those little hammers or axes next to your name.
Overall: about a 6
Buy or rent: err buy….yes.
Seriously, just go and download it at their official site. May be fun for about 1 day or 2.
