No Man's Land

Review by lassekongo83

"Good single-player campaign, but nothing more."

No Man's Land or Age of Empires?
Well, AoE is a classic "Real Time Strategy" (RTS) game where you collect resources from various objects on the maps. Then you build up your army to defeat your enemies.
No Man's Land is almost the same thing, but with less civilisations, buildings and units to build. No Man's Land setting is the American continent at the time when the Spanish and English colonized the continent. You can also play as the Settlers that's the typical wild west culture and The Patriots that rebel against the English. Then there are the Indians that tries to stop the new invaders from taking their holy land.

Graphics 6/10
The graphics will 3D rotate and zoom in etc in cut-scenes. When you play it will stay locked in a classic isometric view that reminds me of AoE, except that you can zoom in and out. The details are good and the textures looks really nice. The graphics looks fine overall, nothing special though.

Music & Sound 7/10
I was surprised by the music in this game. All sides have their own music that fits their culture. I found myself listening to the English music over and over again in Win Amp. It's a bright happy tune that reflects their old civilisation quite well. The other music is also quite good and fits perfect in the game, but it can become a bit repeative sometimes tough.
The game have voice-actors that sounds just fine, but sometimes they talk a bit too fast though.

Gameplay 6/10
The singleplayer campaign have some really good maps and is fun to play through. I couldn't complete any custom games though on random generated maps. The random map-generator creates really boring maps. The biggest problem with the game-play is that it sometimes takes 5 soldiers to kill 1 enemy soldier, it's the same for your opponent, it doesn't feel very realistic. Though it's good in a way, it makes the game a bit harder.
Online games are nothing special, just boring maps, that's all. Unlike AoE there's no map editor that allows you to create your own maps, and that's really bad I think. In AoE the funniest thing to do was to create my own maps.

Replayability 4/10
Well, the SP campaign was the best thing about this game. And i'm not sure I would return to it in the near future. It takes about 4 days or up to one week to complete the SP campaign. I've un-installed the game and don't feel like return to it at all.

Final Score 6/10
If you like RTS games with a good Single Player campaign only, then get this game. If you want multiplayer with good custom maps, then don't get this game.
