Delta Force: Black Hawk Down
Review by untouchable010
"This Black Hawk is goin down!"
Before I begin, I must say that among the many war FPS out there, they're all mostly about WWII. As fun as they are, we need some new stuff...and this game brings in the pretty much modern era of war to your computer. You're fighting in Somalia...theres more to the story, but you can read it yourself. Now, moving on to the review.
Graphics: One of the nice touches of the game is its graphics. Guns look nice, your teammates look good...the environment around you looks good. Everything is done well, and makes you feel like you're in a hot, desert-like area. The Black Hawks look very nice, and detailed as well. Another thing I noticed is that the water looks just about the best I've ever seen(apart from Far Cry's or Call of Duty's). Theres no complaints in the look of this game.
Sound: During battle theres gunfire, men yelling, helicopters roaring overhead, explosions...giving you the feel a real, actual battle going on. The guns sound good, voices sound good,...helicopters sound...well, good. It all is done well.
Gameplay: This is the main part of the game that matters the most right here. The controls of this game are the same for any standard FPS out nowadays on PC; so you wont have any trouble learning the controls of this game. You mostly fight on foot with your comrads, but you also get to fire guns on the top of humvees and even shoot the machine guns in the helicopters(fun, fun). Some levels you'll ride into an area in the helicopter, then jump out with the other men, dirt blowing all around, giving you that...that 'cool' feeling. It's chaotic at times like it is in Call of Duty(which is a good thing), so fun, crazy parts are ahead in this game. The only complaint I have about this game is the AI. The enemy AI are pretty dumb at times, not even shooting at times. I ran up to this one enemy with my knife and he just stood there...but thats pretty much every now and again...but most of the time if you run in the open, you'll die easily. I recommend putting the game on its hardest difficulty level right away, so it isn't too easy. It's a satisfying difficulty at the hardest, so dont worry, you WILL die if you aren't careful. But even if the AI are dumb at times, theres SO MANY of them all around you that you dont see the dumbness. Other than that, the game is freakin' fun.
Multiplayer: It has multiplayer and its good. I'm not much into the online play as I am into singleplayer, but its a good multiplayer.
Replayability: After beating it, you'll want to play it many times through again. It's got the replayability of just about any other FPS out there(the good ones that is), like Call of Duty or Return to Castle Wolfenstein or even Halo(PC).
Buy or Rent(Borrow): If you like playing FPS, especially ones kind of like Call of Duty, then I recommend buying it. Its one of those games where you have objectives with running and gunning and keeping cover all at once. Theres a bit of everything in this game. If you dont like FPS, then dont buy it, but maybe borrow it; but you're damn crazy to not like FPS...so in the end, a game that any fan of war FPS games should buy.
