"BF in 'Nam? For that I'm going EoD!"

My expectations must have been way to high for this was quite a dissapointment. While overall it is an excellent game, it is just basically BF in Vietnam. Battlefield 1942 was the best game I have ever played (in its genre), and this game was supposed to surpass it. But did it? Not at all. The only improvement I see, or rather hear, is the quality of the music. The actual songs of the time, take you back to the time of protests. Basically, if you want to play Battlefield 1942 in Vietnam, buy BF: 1942 (which is currently cheaper than BF: Vietnam) and than download Eve of Destruction (http://www.eodmod.com), the mechanics are the same, and its more fun.

Single Player:
What is their to say? Their is NO single player mode to speak of. The creators have done away with the excellent Campaign mode, and left only the Instant Battle mode. I spent 60% of time with BF in the Campaign mode, so this really ruined things for me. The new AI is actually worse that the AI from the original.
Wrap Up: 2/10

Multiplayer:
Wow, what can I say. Its basically identical to the originial BF online mode. In other words, it still kicks ass. The mechanics have not changed, which really helps. There's still lots of free servers (US, not sure of others) which also helps alot. Basically the multiplayer mode is all the games got now. Which turns it from a Team-Based Action Game w/ Internet Support, to an Online-Only Team-Based Action Game. If you've got a fast connection and love playing action games online than you won't be dissappointed. But if you feel like you want something cheaper, you'll get the same satisfaction from the original.
Wrap Up: 9/10

Graphics:
Still excellent, but I can't see much of a revamp from previous except in High mode. The High Mode does present a graphical revamp, but not enough. Basically, the graphics are still good but not made great.
Wrap Up: 7/10

Sound/Music:
Excellent, excellent! This is my favorite part of BF: Vietnam (sad aint it?). The soundtrack is one of the best I've heard in a game. It really sets the mood of what the troops had to go through, the constant protests and so forth.
Wrap Up: 10/10

Controls:
Very good, but identical to the first. Takes some time to learn for beginners, but if you could handle the original this won't be much of a task.
Wrap Up: 9/10

WRAPPING IT UP:
You can get the same thrill from the original, by downloading the EoD modpack (see above). Controls will probably be hard for new users, but you'll get used to it. Could've dont a much better job, hopefully next one will actually be a nice update... If you want a single player game this is definitely not the way to go, but if you love online team-based multiplayer than get BF: 1942, or this one (depending on how much money you got to blow :-) ).
