"Flawed but FUN"

This is a review for The Thing for the PC. I am a big Survival Horror fan and play Resident Evil countless times. When I first heard of The Thing, I was excited to see a different kind of Survival Horror. And lets delve deeper into the conspiracy.....

Graphics: (9) With a good PC, The Thing looks magnificent, but with a cruddy PC, this "Thing" looks bland. The areas in this game are fantastic, bringing back the classic environments the movie had brought. The thing creatures are well detailed along with the character counter parts. All in all, I would have to say it depends on your PC if you want to see the good stuff.

Sound: (7) Standard horror music, not much to hear though. Monsters sound great with their cries and sometimes even creeped me out. Even the voice-acting was good, though could have been better. And yes the gunshots are fake, probably someone used some potato chips and cracked them to make the gunshots, could have been a LOT better.

Game Play: (8) Thing Thing is using this so called FEAR system which failed horribly. Your supposed to make your team mates trust you with a variety of ways like giving them a weapon, healing them, holding them to gunpoint.....and if you want to see if a team mate is infected, you take a needle and check em, the test is negative but 2 minutes later the guy turns into a thing monster, so basically the so called test is a complete waste. Also I REALLY liked the gun play, lot of action. A twist is when the thing creatures is really weakened the only way to kill them is by via flamethrower.

Storyline (If any): (8) This is supposed to be the sequel to the movie, and I found it enjoyable. You get to see what happens right after the movie, meet some people you thought never possible. A lot of twist and turns this game has, and anybody would like this.

Summary: (8) I give this game a solid 8. This game does have a LOT of flaws especially with the PC version. You have to get a lot of patches, so if you had to choose from a PC and console, get the console, but if your a PC gamer only, I would say this is the game for you!
