Far Cry

"You Either Love It Or Hate It"

Intro
- Farcry is a FPS (First Person Shooter) with something that will strike you at first, the graphics and the freedom to go where you want in each mission, to fight through your own path through each mission, you can do each mission in many ways, from going up front guns blazing, sneaking around waiting for the perfect chance to strike, or from the hills hailing bullets, its up to you.

GRAPHICS
- In my opinion, this is determined by your computer, the better your computer is (2ghz and over with a 128mb video card is advised) can give you a pleasing experience, but if you have a lower end computer (1ghz with a 64mb video card) then it doesnt look as sharp as it would, dont let this get in the way of the game, in my opinion, i feel that the graphics are terrible, sure, you see many polygons in the island or on people, but as i recall hearing from someone who was in the group making Deus Ex 2 The Invisible War "its not how many polygons you have, its how you use them" which is where i feel this game showed a sign of weakness, little tiny scratches in walls and all dont mean anything to me, its how its all presented, the water looks great on very high though, pity the water for the land is all pre-rendered, because if it wernt it would look fantastic.

SOUND
- This is where i loved this game, on a dolby 5.1 sound system, this game will not let you down, turn the speakers way up and enjoy the experience, the thrill of hailing bullets down on a few guards while they try to retaliate with the ambient sounds of the jungle and the beach going off at once can really capture you and throw you in your own world.

GAMEPLAY
- This is where the game struggled, apart from kill run drive and swim, i couldnt find much to do, except have fun with the RAG-DOLL effects on the Enemys, shooting someone onto a stone as they roll off and tumble down the hill was a sight to behold but if you want to be sinister play Postal 2.
the veichles were a nice change to the typical shooter, just dont think the veichles are useless, they are fun, run over unsuspecting people, drive off cliffs and then plumet 40+ metres downhill into the water, the game has its exciting moments.

PLOT
- Plot....what plot, this game had the worst Plot i had ever seen not that it really mattered, the cheesy characters, voice acting, bah!, everything was cheesy, especially the main character, a conveint choice of clothing isnt it?

SUMMARY
- The amount of positive words may question you as to why i gave the game a 6/10 but Gameplay is WAY more important than the Sound and Graphics, just look at some of the past games, Crusader No Remorse + No Regret, Half Life, Doom...yeah, you get the picture.
I Recommend this game to the FPS maniac, or if your new to FPS's then i highly recommend this as a good introduction to shooters.
