Battlefield Vietnam
Review by RyanRyout316
"Greeting from the jungles of Vietnam!"
This is a very fun game. After having Battlefield 1942, I had to get this game. The game takes three discs to install and doesn't take up too much space.
Graphics:
Battlefield Vietnam looks much better than its predecessor. With everything on high, this game is good for eye candy. The shadows and overall textures are pretty good, and the people and tanks look how they should. If you don't have a top of the line video card, its ok! The game does not look bad at all on medium and does not look horrible on low. I would of liked more choices for what your person looked like.
Gameplay:
This is where the battlefield series really shines. The conquest mode in this game is, in my opinion, the most fun you will ever have in an online game. Going around capturing flags is very fun whether you take a plane, helicopter, tank, jeep, boat, or your own two feet. The addition of the helicopter made this game more fun too, easier to fly than desert combat and a great way to transfer people. However, I feel as though helis sometime make the game less fun, because they are a camper's dream. Most of the maps are a blast. Some are a little inbalanced in favor of the US side, but not by too much to make it not fun. It is very satisfying to see your name come in first. :)
Sound:
The sound is for the most part great. Many times you use the sound to figure out where someone is shooting from. The music in this game is great, one of the best things about the game. There is something about loading up a game while listening to the music from the wartime that gets you ready to do your best. Another cool thing about the music is that you can listen to the music in your vehicles and the soldiers around you can hear it! EA also made it possible for you to make your own playlist if the music in the game is not in your tastes. The only thing I would of liked more of is taunts and more jungle sounds. Also, it would be cool if your custom soundtrack could be heard by other players, but I could see where that would get annoying for some.
Singleplayer:
Good for practicing I guess...otherwise do NOT buy this game for singleplayer, it is very boring and easy.
This game is a very worthy successer to Battlefield 1942. It's not much more than an expansion pack at first glance, but later it sucks you in. I can see how some people see it as more of a space filler waiting for Battlefield 2. BF 2 looks to update almost everything, not just some like Battlefield Vietnam has. Don't let this discourage you from buying. As I said, this is probobly the most fun you can have if you like this type of game, it is never the same game when you go on.
I just wish EA sped up the waiting time for patches to come out! This game does need more maps, and does need more vehicles which the patches promise to deliver on.
