The Golf Pro

"Pretty good, but its still golf..."

Ever since a long time ago, golf has been a popular sport. So, like any other sport, golf has been made into several video games, of varying quality. The Golf Pro is one of the better games, and has beautfiful graphics, although its variety is a bit lacking.

Like any golf game, the object of The Golf Pro is to get the best score. However, The Golf Pro is a bit lacking in the variety department. When you look at this game you'll see four disks, but there's only two courses throughout both of them. However, the game is still fun. This game includes an innovative swinging method using the mouse. By moving the mouse back and forth you set the power of your swing, and by tilting the mouse, you can make the ball curve when you hit it. This gives you surprising control when you get used to it. If it seems too hard for you, this game has an excellent tuturial mode that teaches you to be a golf pro, just like Gary Player. Like any good golf game, this gives you a full set of clubs, and plenty of scoring options, but the best option is the opportunity to save your shots. Say, if you hit a 20 meter putt, nobody will believe you, right? Well, you can just save the putt with this game, and then play it back in all its glory. This adds to the longevity of the game.

The graphics of this game are simply stunning. The courses are incredibly detailed, and look just as they would if you were watching golf on TV. The sound is also great, and it sounds like the real sounds you'd hear when you're golfing.

Overall, for a golfing game, this is excellent. However, you can't hide the fact that its still a golfing game. The graphics of this game are excellent, but I think that with all of the pretty graphics, a lot of variety was lost, and they were only able to fit two courses in four disks. The swinging feature is excellent as well, and gives you supreme control of the ball once you get used to it. If you're a big fan of the sport, then The Golf Pro won't dissapoint. If not...well, it's just another golfing game.
