Well well well, finally the expansion pack to 2003's Game of the Year(Call of Duty) is here...and to sum it all up, it's great. Call of Duty: United Offensive puts you in the shoes of a soldier in the American, British, and Russian armies. Again you take part in the war that changed the world.

Story/Presentation:

The game starts up with another nice opening sequence of fighting from all three sides...this time full of action. When I watched it for the first time, I just got me pumped with all the explosions, planes, tanks, troops, shooting, and yelling going on. This is WWII...so chaos is the general of the video. The main menu screen and all is exactly the same as before, except with different backgrounds, of course. Its all done well here.

Graphics:

Even though the Quake 3 engine is aging...Gray Matter does a fine job of pushing it to the limits. The graphics are the same as before, but added things make it even nicer. Particles like smoke and dirt flying in the air from an explosion are nicely done, adding to the chaotic battles you will encounter. Weapons look the same as before, but there's nothing wrong with that. There are some bigger outside areas of fighting...and with all the stuff going on its a nice view to behold. This is war...and it looks beautiful. No complaints here.

Sound:

The sounds in this game are superb just like before. Men yelling, artillery, guns firing, tanks rolling in, planes flying overhead; it's a great treat for your ears, and helps the feel of the battles. Nothing much more to say here, nicely done.

Gameplay:

Man, I still have nothing bad to say...and if you've played Call of Duty, then you know how the gameplay is. Its just like before...but I must say, its much harder....VERY hard at times, actually. Keeps you on your toes..and makes you feel like you're being overrun when they're ALL over the damn place, rushing your position. Woo...get ready to die..and often...but eventually when you get used to it, and more skills taken...you wont die as much. Its like that hard Pavlov mission from before...but harder..but also alot more fair. The battles are sweet. AI act as before...no real bugs seen here like before..but I'm sure they're there and I don't see them cause theres so much going on. But I haven't noticed any bugs actually...The first mission, on the easy setting, lasted me a while, and it was pretty damn long....especially for a first mission...and damn ****'n hard. But it was great. Gameplay keeps you goin', its fun.

Buy it?:

If you liked Call of Duty, then you'll love Call of Duty: United Offensive. If you like FPS, you'll like this game, but you'll need CoD of course. FPS fan? Get it.
