I'm Gonna Serve You 4

Review by Ecchifan

"A Delightful Surprise!"

In G-Collection's I'm Gonna Serve You 4 (Tsukushite Agechau 4), an adult PC game created by Trabulance, you are Koji Aoyama, a student who helps out at his uncle's restaurant. After you got involved in a near fatal car accident and returned home from the hospital, your uncle arranged for you to live with him. But unbeknownst to you, your uncle also arranged for four girls to work and live under the same roof, and each one wants to become your girlfriend. The objective of this game is to decide who you want to end up with.

In previous reviews posted GameFaqs.com, I have expressed puzzlement at G-Collection's marketing spin for certain releases. You can now include I'm Gonna Serve You 4 into that group. The title itself is misleading. I originally expected this game to be about maids looking to please their master, perhaps in a hardcore, BDSM fashion. The girls, including the one on the cover of the game package, certainly look the part in their uniforms.

As I played this game, I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that my initial impression was flat out wrong. I'm Gonna Serve You 4 turned out to be an extremely well polished game with very, very well developed characters and excellent storylines. The girls themselves are quite different from one another: Himeko Koji is an energetic girl lacking confidence in herself; Takano Aoyama is your intelligent and refined cousin; Chizuru Tahara is a cheerful girl who acts like your older sister; Leo Akasaka is a quiet girl who doesn't go to your school. Each storyline is fairly long, with serious trials to overcome. While the stories are not original, they are a good mix for this game. Also, to me, the twists and turns in these storylines are quite reminiscent of another G Collection release, the critically acclaimed Kana: Little Sister.

My only complaint regarding the storyline is the missed opportunity Trabulance had with Alice, the doctor who healed your character. She appeared mainly in the prologue, but Trabulance could have easily created another storyline involving Alice. And it would have been quite interesting, if the prologue is any indication.

Replay value is fairly high. Each character has three endings, including a true ending that will allow the player to view the credits and a side story where the girl is waiting for Koji to return. It actually took about eight hours for this reviewer to get through all the endings and side stories.

Gameplay is also good. I'm Gonna Serve 4 is loaded with options. The standard functions of adjusting the text appearance speed; turning off voice or background music; and skipping previously read messages are offered. In addition, an in-game hint system is available. You could also have the save menu pop up at critical points in the game. There are 30 save slots in all. The Extras menu is very well organized. From a single page, you could play music from the soundtrack, and view graphics and sex scenes for each character.

While Japanese voice is included in this North American release, it's a mixed bag. As other GameFaqs.com reviewers pointed out, some voices simply do not match with the characters. Although we, the consumers in North America, should be grateful that G-Collections chose to release this game with the original voice acting intact, the bad casting of the voice actresses for parts in this game diminish, to a very small degree, our enjoyment of this release. Thankfully, G-Collections provided the option of turning off the voice for specific characters, an option which many of you will find yourself using. The music soundtrack is generally good, and the theme song, "LOVE A La Mode," is a big hit in my book.

The graphics are excellent. The characters are visually attractive and desirable, and the sex scenes are not hardcore. The harem scenes are humorous.

I'm Gonna Serve You 4 is an excellent release from G-Collections with outstanding character storylines, graphics and music. This game is highly recommended.
