SimCity 2000
Review by Error1355
"The classic computer game."
One time, back in 3rd grade I played this game called Sim City. Yes, the first one. In it's large ass floppy disk form and everything. And beat this, on a Mac computer. I loved computers as a child. And once the school got the Internet, I asked to stay in for recess and go on it. But that's another story. I'd take any chance to play Sim City that I could. So it's only natural that I got Sim City 2000 when I got my first computer in 6th grade.
As a young child I had a lot of fun, mostly because I had no idea what I was doing. No real form to my cities. Just childish fun. It's only right that a Maxis game was the first computer game I'd ever play.
Simply put, great for such an early game. Complicated if you desire, or you can ignore everything your advisors are telling you and just cheat for money. Perfect. This is the kind of game I can enjoy. Being GameFAQ's residential Obsessive-Compulsive reviewer, I have to say, this game just screams out to me. You can build the streets, build what the people want/need, and enjoy your new city. But also, there isn't much depth. So once you made one city you have pretty much done everything you can do. So that is a downfall, but I'm not going to review it like it's 2004. I'm going to review it like it's 1995.
So, you start out with a piece of land which you can shape to what you want beforehand. Want a water filled landscape? Sure thing. Want tons of hills and trees? Check. Want a flat bared land with no features at all? You can have that too, you boring kid. Then after you do this, you are left with a choice of how much money to start out with, and what year it is. Even though it's pretty much just zone the land they want, and give it power, you can still have a lot of fun with it.
Then there is the music. Oh that music, it's not the get stuck in your head music, but it definitely something that will make you think Sim City in a snap once you hear it. The sound effects are not the greatest, I can say that, but it gets the job done for sure.
I have to say if you found this at a store for anything over $5, don't buy it. Just because of how old it is. If you want to play some Sim City, get Sim City 4.
This game gets a 9 from me. Just because of the memories it has given me. As creepy as it sounds, this game effected my life. Because of how old I was when I first played a version of this.
