Star Wars: Battlefront
Review by maximummonkeyman
"Best Star Wars Video Game Ever!"
INTRO
This game is basically what all Star Wars fans have been waiting for - a game that puts you on the front lines with nought but a laser machine gun and a few grenades. Die, Battle Droid, die!!!
GAMEPLAY 9.5/10
Well, first off, you can be in both first-person and third-person views, something only occasionally seen nowadays. The controls have an ultimately perfect level of depth, and are easy to jump straight in to. The AI (artificial intelligence) works very well, so if there is a large battle going on, they'll try to flank the enemy or sneak up behind them. Pilots on your side will throw you ammo and health if you run past one of them when you're low on something. You have the ability to give simple commands, like "Follow me!" or "Hold position." You can also command a variety of cool vehicles, everything from AATs to ATATs to Swoop bikes to Jedi Starfighters... The list goes on and on. The flying controls take some getting used to but are eventually easy. The vehicle camera is sometimes in the wrong place, but normally works. Also, you can allow Jedi heroes, who are virtually invincible and have sabers. Overall, 9.5 out of 10.
GRAPHICS 10/10
The graphics are very good, with well animated characters and nice effects for things like lasers and explosions. All the characters and vehicles are completely faithful to the Star Wars movies. You can even see battle marks on blasted troopers. Delightful. 10 out of 10.
SOUND 7.5/10
Nothing really special here. The music is the old theme tune plus a few newer ones. The lasers and so on sound like they always sounded : fairly good. Nothing new in this department. 7.5 out of 10.
REPLAY VALUE 9/10
Single player - 8/10 Some decent campaigns, a Galactic Conquest mode, and an Instant Action mode make this section. If you cannot play multiplayer, this game is probably still worth it. The campaigns have perhaps six missions each with great battle re-enactment. Blasting Gungans and Ewoks (Ooh, mesa gonna die here!) really made this game for me. 8 out of 10.
Multiplayer - 9/10 Always instant action, but other players being blown up is more satisfactory than bots being blown up. Very good, but often lags a bit and has clumsy server interface. 9 out of 10.
OVERALL - 9.4/10
A really good game. I especially recommend it for Star Wars fans who loved the big battles, as all of them are in this game. Thanks for reading!
