MU Online
Review by HitmanOutbreak04
"Dark Knights and Elves and Dark Wizards oh my!"
MuOnline quite frankly is a repetetive hack and slash MMORPG. So why is it so addicting? Why is it that some people would spend hours upon hours upon days, then weeks to months and eventually years just to level up one character just to use Dragon Armor and a really, really cool shiny scythe? I'll tell you why, just as soon as my middle finger stops the clicking motion from using the right click a lot.
Oh My Check Out The Uberness:
Indeed check out the Uberness... err I mean check out the..
Graphics "10" : Amazing, mind shattering, mind blowing, this game stacks up against so many other $30-40 and yet it's totally free of charge. The armors and weapons are varied and very unique. The monsters, particularily, the harder ones( if you've yet to face a balrog, stop reading now and level like crazy to see one in Losttower7) pay close atttention to detail and vaguely references other things in culture, see if you can spot em.
Sound "0" :....ok well there really isn't any music to the game just mostly clanging and cutting air so there really isn't much to say. You can easily start up a music player on your comp before loading up Mu. However, if you play on a server which has an event called Blood Castle, I can tell you that mixed with some insanity and some intense heroic music and you've got yourself a winning combo.
Gameplay "0-10" :Erm, hard to explain here for certain gamers, many longtimers on Mu, that means about level 70+ will say that the gameplay is simple, but fun nonetheless. However, many people quit right after lvl 10 when they see that lvling takes a while. So I say this, "0" to people who like to have very rewarding goals which require mass skill but not time and dedication, and "10" to people who like working towards small goals, building on them and having a unique pride in having such devotion and time to something.
Controls "9" :Simple, left click to melee, right click to skill, "Q" "W" "E" for potions and other items, 0-9 to select a skill, esc to access menu and everything else is in front of you, just a click away. Only problem is that every now and then, lag will register that you are using a potion a few seconds after you're dead instead of a few seconds before.
Enviroment "7" A lot of people can be jerks in this game, mostly because they're stronger than you, hackers pose a small threat, but not to the extemes. The recent flood of duping might pose a problem though. Overall, many people are good natured, just don't kill a monster tat another guy was about or pick up an item that you had no part in the killing.
Overall "9" Great addictive game and is damn well perfect. Many people say that it needs quests. I see it that if quests are added, it'll ruin the game. Look at this way, in near all MMORPGs, the quest usually consists or either killing something, retrieving something or getting to a specific place, all usually accompanied with some attractive hiltered story line. What this game needs is more event games, like Blood Castle.
For those who don't know what Blood Castle is, it's a competition between characters, guilds or made up parties. (SPOILERS) you start out in Davias at an angel that would be in a space near the back of the church(not in global) to be fair there are level groupings to put people in their proper place. From there 15 people in each grouping can join an Event. Parties are usually formed, by guilds or friends, if planned correctly, there should be 2-3 dark wizards, 1-2 dark knights and 1 energy elf who provides auras to the wizards. From there you procede to waste countless monsters whos drop items are good on hopes of being the one to break the gate to the inner area, and getting the crystal sword, which then provides you with good items.
In short, Mu has an indescribable quality that seperates it from other MMORPGS. Compared to other ones, this one is really simple and not as in depth as others, but for some odd strange reason, we like it. This is one of those games which comes along every now and then which it's gameplay is its final reward.
