"Buy it : play it : adore it"
This game is most likely one of the most wanted of the year. It si, as the name suggest, a driving game. I said driving game, not racing. The game, takes plae in 4 cities : Miami, San Fransisco, Los Angeles, and New York. With real traffic. And people. And cops. The main part of the game. You play as Tanner, an ex-racing driver, and a cop, infiltrating the underworld to bust the dirty drug and arms dealer outa there. All this over 40, big, but very repetitive missions.
GAMEPLAY : 10
The controls are really easy to learn, and after you will feel like you have been driving these cars all your life. You only need 6 or 7 buttons to play. The game is fun. Lots of fun. But it starts to get hard after a couple of missions. The cops are impossible to shake off, and you'll feel your license plate says "arrest me". Apart from that, it's exellent.
SCENARIO : 8
The scenario is not the most original; but it pretty convincing and existent, which is rare for driving games.
GRAPHICS : 9
The graphics are really good. The smoke and tire marks prove it. There are millions of little things to run over, such as parking meters, cones...But who says lots says : slow. Yes, indeed, you'll need a fast computer to play the game at good speed. I own a P3, Riva II, 64 MB of Ram, and it still slows down.
SOUND : 9
The sound is good. It is authentically reproduced, and the music is pure 70s style.
REPLAYABILITY : 9
The missions may be more or less the same, the game never is. There a re millions of possibilities : play it cool, please the police, or make a run for it as soon as you are in their line of sight ?
Overall : 9
Buy this game - you won't be disapointed
