Warcraft II: Battle.net Edition

Review by BigBadBar

"Damnit! How am I supposed to defeat those 150 paladins?"

Yes, yes. This game is very old. That's why Blizzard was smart enough to release it with the expansion pack for 20 dollars! Yep, you pay 20 dollars for the best strategy game there is (Better than starcraft.)

Well, let's start with the bad things about this game. Although ok, the balance of the 2 races isn't nearly as cool as Starcraft's wicked balance. For every unit Orc has, Human has an equal one. Ogre = knight, dragon = gryphon, Grunt = footman and the list goes on. Also, dragons suck. They're big cheating. I think they should have been left out of the game. You just make a lot of dragons and you can win because most units can't attack air. And you can only control 9 units at the same time when the computer can launch a 100 ogre attack simutaniously. That really sucks. The last thing is the map-editor has a lot more limitations to it that Starcraft's... And the last thing is that you can't order the building to make 5 soldiers at once... You have to do it one at a time...

But that's where the bad things are over. The rest is cool. You have Starcraft and won't buy Warcraft because Starcraft is like Warcraft only better. WRONG! They're completely different games with different strategies and units. You have the original Warcraft 2 and don't want to spend 20 bucks on the new version... Wrong! Battle.net gives you unlimited hours of fun and battling. Battle.net is worth 50 dollars and you only have to pay 20...

Now, the sound is brilliant. This game has the second best music in a game I've ever heard (Sonic Adventure will always be 1st in music) This game has some cool classic music that fits this game amazingly. The sound effects are awesome. The voices are perfect.

Graphics. This game has some pretty cool cartonish graphics, like Starcraft... Although the FMV isn't nearly as cool as SC's FMV.

The story is HUGE and I won't write it all. Here it is in one sentence " Orcs want to invade the human world." But it goes on and on. A total of 10 pages on the book sized manual. It is very interesting and I suggest you to read it.

Gameplay is really cool. You should know how this game plays. THe thing I love about this game is the limitations. There is only one way to get there. I love that. Starcraft had billions of ways and that makes the game a lot easier. In warcraft, your battles can go on for hours and hours and hours. You may have a naval war with 20 subs, 100 destroyer and 30 battleships or you can have dozens of archers, paladins and footmans ready to kick some ass. Battles in Starcraft didn't last nearly as long as these do. And there is no incredible army that can't be defeat (11 carriers, one observator, cough, cough)

This is it and go buy this game.
