"THE perfect adventure game"
Grim Fandango is a classic. it's a game that should be the source for all the other adventure games. it should be the religion of adventure gamers. it should be the bible of adventure game developers all around the world. Lucas Arts has made history with Grim Fandango. And we are all at our knees for this fantastically made adventure. here's my humble review for this priceless classic:
Graphics:
You want graphics? you got graphics. the BEST in the business. I think Grim Fandango was released in 1998 or 1999 and it's STILL the best looking completely 3d adventure game today and the sexiest too. The whole world in which it all happens is oozing with atmosphere and character. speaking of which, the character arts in this game are amazing! EACH and EVERY ONE of the characters TOTALLY vary from their taste in clothes and their looks. as you know, this game happens in another world where all the people are dead and are now nothing but skeletons, waiting in this "city of the dead" to either be sent to heaven or hell. now making each character varied and colorful is a very hard job regarding that the all the people are "skeletons". but somehow the people behind the graphics department have done it and they've done it pretty swell! There are so many different environments in this game. the variety will simply astound you in a way you've never thought.

Sound:
Another BIG BIG triumph! you've never seen (or heard as I should say) so much spirit and enthusiasm in a game before. the voice acting is so natural that you'd mistake the whole game for a big budget movie with really good actors if you didn't know it's a game! the main character, Manny, is the most lovable characters ever created. (yes even more than Guybrush Threepwood from the monkey island series) you'll start to feel so deep inside the game that you'd think you're a part of it. I can simply recall NO GAME with such great spirit and music and voice acting. nothing has been created quite as touchy and humorous.

Controls:
nothing complicated here. everything works just fine. you control the main character and access your inventory with your keyboard which means there's no use for the mouse.

Gameplay:
the gameplay of this game is just as great as everything else. the puzzles are really interesting and there's always a sense of triumph when you get something done right and when you finally solve a puzzle. sometimes you'll have to REALLY push your brains and IQ to the limit but you'll be satisfied to know that the whole puzzles are logically made and will logically be solved. just use your brains. don't try to turn on a secret elevator using balloons. think think think! that's what this game encourages you to do in such a sweet way that you'll never be offended.
10/10
Story:
AH! the jewel of the crown! unbelievable I'd say! Spanning across 2 cd's! okay. here's a quick summary:
you are Manny. a skeleton dude working inside an office inside the "world of the dead". you are in charge of selling tickets to heaven if the people who visit you are worth it. you are also a reaper who brings the "just died" people from the world of the leaving to the world of the dead. anyway. things go wild. you find out there is something wrong with the system. and theres a "conspiracy" going on. and people who are really evil are getting their hands on heaven tickets illegally. then you fall in love. then you have to run away from the corruption infested government. then you have to fight the bad guy responsible for all this mess. with dozens and dozens of twists and turns. this, people, is story telling to the perfection. beautiful!
10/10
FINAL WORDS:
This is a landmark for all adventure gaming. you'll actually fall in love with the characters and want to help them through the adventure. you'd care for them and you'd be shocked by the clever twists and you'll laugh out loud when the perfect stylistic humor occurs. and you'll shed tears, when you've finally finished the game. This game is THE BIRTH OF NEXT GENERATION ADVENTURE GAMES. it's a classic. no matter when you play it. as a matter of fact, it'd be wise to keep the game CDs with you and then one day, show it to your children and grand children, and tell them that "this is the adventure game that started it all, my dear children, and I was there to see it. and play it. and feel it with my whole heart...."
