Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed

"A great expansion pack"

I've been playing Star Wars Galaxies for a while now but not since launch. I love the game and if you don't like SWG then I do not know why your reading a review for its expansion. Anyway Jump to Lightspeed adds the ability to fly through space in various starships including X-wings and Tie fighters. I was part of the beta, which was really cool and was the reason I ran out and bought this game on the day of its launch.

Graphics 8/10

My computer is just above average but not enough to fully enjoy the graphics this game. But this expansion is still enjoyable. You can change the graphics and detail settings to suit your needs. I recommend settings that will cause minimal lag.

Music/Sound 8/10

There is some great music that plays when you're in combat and the sounds for firing weapons, engines and other ship related things are very realistic.

Gameplay/New Features 9/10

Gameplay is excellent, it's just like a flight sim. You can use a mouse or joystick I don't know which is better as I don't have a joystick. When you install the expansion you'll get three e-mails. One is from the Empire, another from the Rebellion, and the last one from the freelance pilots. Choose whichever suits you and go to the waypoint. Then follow the instructions provided when you get there. You'll get missions to run which earn you some nice credits. I recommend buying a new ship after you complete the first tier as your starter ship can not be upgraded and it sucks. If you want to start a new character you know have two new species to choose from the Ithorian and Sullastan. As well a new profession (not including the pilots) the Shipwright. You can customize your ship equipment and color with equipment bought from Shipwrights. You can even pilot multi-passenger ships with your friends. You may also see a new vehicle called the flash speeder, this was awarded to people who pre-ordered.

Story 1-10/10

This can vary greatly based on the way you play. The more you role-play and participate in various events this will have more of a story this will have. Although there is no fixed story this is an MMORPG after all.

So basically if you own Star Wars Galaxies I recommend getting this expansion it does not add and extra payments to the monthly fee and it is a lot of fun so what are you waiting for.
