SimEarth: The Living Planet
Review by tiamold
"A Maxis game... with a score of 1/10?!?!"
Intro: Sad, sad indeed. It's hard to explain how saddened I am by this game. I don't even understand how Maxis could release... such... dare I say it... crap. Yes, I never thought it could be true, but a Maxis game that actually isn't fun.
Gameplay: This is a game? The game is so bad and so utterly confusing I don't understand how anyone can even play it. You just start with a random map of a random mess of... brown and blue stuff, and you are supposed to just magically figure out what you are supposed to do. Hell, I didn't even figure it out. I THINK that you are supposed to make an earth, and have it live with humans, animals, and plants. How you do this, please, just don't ask me. I'm traumatized enough. There is also some sort of evolution involved, but you can't bare to play it long enough to know, or even want to know. Humans cause pollution, which cause plants to die, which in turn causes animals to die, which than of course kills the humans. When everything is dead, you fail. Earth dies out, and you must place new little icons on the map to bring Earth back to existence. So exciting, I can barely contain myself.
Sound: None. What's up with that? What was Maxis thinking?! No sound, no music, no nothing. Just pure silence. This is Earth, not mars! Just a little sound couldn't possibly hurt.
Graphics: Is that what it is called? Because it looked like someone smeared mud and blue paint on my screen and called it Earth. The plants, animals, and humans are just little icons that do nothing on the screen, except multiply and kill other creatures. It looks like Windows icons gone mad. Obviously, everyone wants to see that.
Controls: Mouse... click... yeah. You click the little brown, green, or blue icons, and place them on the mud and blue paint. Than you act excited because you are playing this excellent game. You will master these controls in a matter if seconds, but only if you are a true game master!
Overall: I can't believe I own this game. Do me a favor, don't buy this game, unless you just want to see the exciting icon chaos, which of course, everyone does. Overall I give Sim Earth a 1/10, only because I can't give it negative score.
