Spider-Man: The Movie
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With great power to make a movie, comes great responsibility to make a game.

And these guys didn't do such a bad job. At all.

Storyline Score 10
Superheroes Galore!

You know the storyline. Read the book/watch the movie to find out the story.

Graphics Score 8
Clip-a-dee-doo-dah, my oh my what a clippity day!

Seriously! This game's graphics are so clippy (read:crappy) that I almost think I'm in a barbershop. Not only do they clip, but it doesn't support my 3d accel card, so it locks up my computer every fifteen minutes. Although these graphics look really good, their acceleration leaves something to be desired.

Gameplay Score 8
Live da web-slingin' life o' da spida' dood

Yeah! You practically live through the movie, not only beating up Green + Gruesome, but also The Cushion, Sir Senile, and Mr. Paranoia... aka The Shocker, The Vulture, and the Scorpion. You get to beat it out of every single Spidey villain imaginable, save Mr. Octathlon. You use the classic WSAD keys to run around. But the weird thing is, almost every single punch and kick imaginable is triggered by the number pad. Gaming controls can't get much stranger!

The first three levels of the game are the most important, and have just two objectives: Find Uncle Ben's killer, and repay the favor. Then you move on to fighting Light Mechs, The vicious machines created by OsCorp to destroy Spider-Man. You then move on to fighting The Cushion, with his deadly attack: The Waffle (aka shockwave)! Then Sir Senile, who doesn't have any common sense at all: he commits crime and he goes flying in a storm. Finally, Mr. Paranoia, with his stingy tail that takes you for a little trip. Following the rules for these guys shouldn't be too hard. Trust me, this game is a lot more than you'd expect from a Spidey game.

Length/Difficulty Score 7
Oh, man, where do I begin?!

This is probably the longest game in history. It has twenty-two jam-packed levels, and a million special features to unlock. To top that off, it's anything but easy to get through these levels. Take Level 18, for example. You have to swing around town and disarm nine bombs loaded with poison gas in just a little under two minutes! You call that easy? No, sir. I call it a difficult challenge.

Replay Value Score 8
An idea from Play It Again Sports!

YAAAAAAAA - HHHHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Wonderful! I have never seen any one do such a good job with Replay Value! First of all, there are a million unlockables in the secret store, but you need to earn enough points to get them. Plus, finishing the game on SUPER HERO mode hands you the ability to play through as: You guessed it, Green + Gruesome (Except it's Harry, and he's not so gruesome.).

And...
RECAP!

Buy, Rent, or Flush?

Buy this game, and if you don't like it, well, tough beans. If I find out you HAVEN'T bought it, I'll come over and flush you down the toilet.
