Star Wars Republic Commando

"Guess what? It's not another Halo 2 rip off!"

Before I rate anything in this game let me just say, if you are a fan of star wars, FPS, or just video games THIS GAME IS WORTH YOUR TIME. It is easily one of the best First Person Shooters out there. I would definitely say Star Wars Republic Commando can give Halo 2 a challenge. NOTE: The only reason I compare Star Wars Republic Commando to Halo 1 or 2 in this review is because people often put down other first person shooters as rip offs of H1 or 2. (What they don't realize is Halo isn't the first first person shooter out there so it actually ripped off other games like Time crisis and doom in it's own sense.) Personally I find this game just as good if not better than Halo. This game is both fun and challenging. Ok let's get started:

Gameplay and Story: 9/10
I have to give this game the full credit it deserves. The story makes sense and you will see the overall design of the game is enjoyable. The weapons are useful for different things and each has their own specific uses. Your squad is controlled by the single press of a button. They help in battles and DON'T GET IN YOUR WAY. I cannot stress how important that is. They each have their specific uses like weapons. For example Scorch likes demolitions while another Squad member may prefer hands on melee combat with the gauntlets. This gives the gameplay a new fun edge. The monsters often change to give the switch the gameplay around.

Online Play: 8/10
The graphics in online play are amazing. I have barely encountered a server yet that has lots of lag. If you compare the pings from Halo 1 and 2 to this you will be stunned. People seem to be friendly and civilized. The only bad thing I can say about this is when I played I noticed there weren't that many servers and the game wasn't that populated with people. This might be good for some people but for me it was kind of a disappointment.

Graphics: 8/10
The graphics are amazing. Particularly in online play. In the regular campaign mode the graphics are worse and rougher. You can of course set the visual settings but you will need a remotely strong graphic card to run this game at full potential. However you can set the graphics to run at the lowest for the game to run best.

Overall: 8.5/10
Any gamer will probably enjoy this game. The story and graphics are all good. Controls easy to learn. Fun online play(when there's people >_<). And easy squad commands. What more could you ask for?
