Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords

"Platformers miss out on the greatness of KOTOR2"

Right off the bat I read reviews from a few news sources about how KOTOR2 is game of the year and blah, blah, blah. I then turn to player reviews hoping they would have a little more input and all I see are reviews of platformers or people who haven't kept their computer up to date enough to find the greatness of KOTOR2.

I've seen the original game and had my doubts. So this review will not come from the point of view of comparing 2 different yet similar games. This review is standing on the one game alone. Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords.

You can compare all day the little things about KOTOR2 to it's predicessor. Here's a tip for you. Stop playing Xbox and get a descent sound and video card for your parents cruddy dell.

KOTOR2 is a great RPG for anyone who is into this style gamming. Many games have turned off alot of RPG fans because of game play or the controls are far off in a sequel game compared to the orginal.

This is not a problem for KOTOR2. The game is beautifully designed it's damn good compared to alot of other games out there. My only complaint is that you can't explore all the worlds completely. You only get a small section of a planet to explore. Don't get me wrong the boards are not small in anyway but one problem of RPGs are the fact that you are contained in a minimal space. I think if theres any future RPGs of lucas arts they should look into this.

The weapon upgrades and breakdowns are great. I wish I could, as I might, create even better weapons from the breakdown of items. For example: grenade launches attached to a laser rifle.

KOTOR2 also has an expansive force selection to choose from. One power I notice in particular is how powerful the sith lightning is. I think aside from that, the force powers are good at where they are at. I've read alot of complaints about the force poers being to high powered. Here's another tip for the winers....
quit setting your games to easy and click it to hard mode. Yes Lucas games have a tendancy to be hard at even normal settings. So quit being winers.

The sound is pretty good, for the PC version that is. Xbox sounds like it has some problems with the voice editing but thats what happens with platforms most times. To much content is pacted on a disk and just because microsoft says "the XBOX is a computer gaming system" doesn't mean it's the best gaming system for the job.

Over all I from what I've played so far of KOTOR2 I really liked. I still have yet to finished the game in it's entirety. This game I hope will start a new craving for RPGs that we have all been waiting for. One damn good game. I totally recommend this game to anyone with alot of free time. If you have a girlfriend or wife or boyfriend or man husband whatever, plan on ignoring ever word they say when you play. This game is the crack pc games.
