"Daggerfall: Chapter II of a epic series"

Vivox's Review of The Elder Scrolls Chapter II: Daggerfall

Probably one of the biggest cult classic games in history is the second of the Elder Scrolls series: Daggerfall. The game is just like the other games in the series: a open-ended first-person RPG. The game expands upon the original Elder Scrolls and makes for a even better, deeper open-ended RPG experience. It's so easy to see why this game is considered a cult classic.

Story: The story is for Daggerfall is more original than that of Arena. In the second installment of the series, you, as a aide to the emperor, are sent to the province of Daggerfall to put the ghost of a dead friend of the emperor to rest. On the way, you are shipwrecked and wake up inside a vast dungeon. You must escape from the dungeon and complete your quest. On the way, you can do so much more things than Arena: you can join Guilds, buy a horse, a house, and even a ship. It is the fact that there are so many side stories to the main quest that make the game so much fun to play. The fact that the story involves putting a ghost to rest is a pretty original story. The Story gets a 9 out of 10.

Gameplay: Just like the other games in the series, the game is a open-ended masterpiece, where you do what you want, if you feel like it. Explore catacombs, dungeons, and cities and take on quests for items. This time around, you only gain levels by using your abilities (like Morrowind), making the game more challenging than Arena. Now, though, there is more for you to do. Feel like buying a house? A horse to make travel easier? Or even a ship (to make travel even easier)? Feel like joining a guild? how about the Fighters, or Mages Guild? Feel like stealing stuff? Join the Thieves Guild (a hidden guild in the game). Feel like being evil? Assassinate people in town to get a invitation to join the Dark Brotherhood, a group of deadly cutthroat murderers or "assassins" (if that word makes you feel better about what your character does haha) . The game has a lot for you to do, and you can do it in any order, however you feel. The game definitely has a wide variety of activities in store for you. The Gameplay gets a 10 out of 10.

Graphics: These graphics are a little better than the original Elder Scrolls, although they aren't a vast improvement. The weather effects from the original are back as well. The graphics, for its time, are well done. The characters are also better looking than the original. While the graphics aren't vastly improved, the graphics were a little better. The Graphics get a 8 out of 10.

Music/ Sound: The music and sound in the game are very well done. The game uses most (if not all) the music from the first game, and once again you may find yourself humming some of the tunes (if thats your thing...) and the sound is as well done as the music. The monsters scrape across the stone, howl in the depths of dungeons, and all around may make you wonder whats around the next corner. The Music/Sound gets a 9 out of 10.

Replayability: Like the other games in the series, the game has vast replayability. You'll find yourself playing over and over again to find stuff you didn't see or find your first time through. The game is just that great. The Replayability gets a 10 out of 10.

Buy, or Download?: The game is not worth a download: it's illegal to download so I don't recommend it. The game is worth all the money you can buy off of Ebay. It will cost you (at the most) at least fifty dollars. It's worth it, though. So go out and buy it if you can.

The second in the Elder Scrolls series is a cult classic game that will be considered a great game for years to come. And it's easy to see why the game is considered a classic. The second in the series is not as easy to obtain as Arena or Morrowind, but if you do, consider yourself lucky.
