Civil War Generals 2: Grant, Lee, Sherman

Review by Kain vs Raziel

"The cannons thunder once again!"

I have always enjoyed war games and strategy games. This is one of them. Not only do you have fun playing it, but you also get to learn about the American Civil War. You get to traverse through many different campaigns such as Sherman's march, the Wilderness campaign, and many other campaigns.

Game play 10/10
I think the way the game plays works perfectly. Everything about it works well. You can move your troops, tell them to dig in, weapon/equipment supply them, formation change, and many other choices.

In campaign mode you gain money from capture supplies. At the end you are allowed to buy new weapons for four types of troops. Those types are cavalry, infantry, sharp shooters, and artillery.

One of the really cool aspects of this game is the battle creation mode. You can “plant” various buildings, make river/seas/lakes, towns and cities (and name them), hills, mountains, forts, fortifications, rock walls, railroads, and many other items and buildings. After you finish the scenery, you will then be able to make troops. You make their leader buy first giving them a name, and then you type in how much points they have in certain areas (loyalty, leadership, organization, health). You also choose what kind of unit he leads-(cavalry, infantry, sharp shooters, and artillery) and how many men he has.

Graphics 8/10
Well it's an older game and a strategy game, so they didn't work on the graphics too much. It looks good and works, and that is what counts. Unfortunately all the battlefields are grassy. There is no snow, no dirt, but there are rocks, water, towns, cemeteries, farms, etcetera.

Story 10/10
Well it's based off the civil war. The cool part is that they made fake battles. These battles are a “what if” scenario, such as if Lee made it to Washington, DC or if he had won Gettysburg.

Sound 10/10
They had good civil war era music and great sound effects. The sound effects such as cannons, guns, and other war sounds also sounded great.

Lifespan 10/10
There are many campaigns to choose from, and you can play on both sides. There are the original battles and alternate versions of those battles. You can also make your own battles. You can play against a friend from the same computer or on the Internet. You can also play your battles on the Internet or on verses. This game has a great lifespan due to these factors.

Buyability 5/10
Well, it is an older game, and I do not know how easy it is to find. It shouldn't be that expensive and well worth it.

Overall 9/10
I give this game a nine out of ten. It's a great game, but a little old.
