Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Review by ZaphodB1
"This is more than just an awesome game..."
This is a legend. Prince of Persia is probably the best game I have ever played. It is just so awesome!
Gameplay: 10/10
The gameplay is great for this game. There are so many things to do and so many ways to move around. Everything is seamless, from the running on walls to the swinging from poles. The game will not screw you up. If you die only you will be to blame. The Sands of Time were an awesome thing to use, from rewinding your mistakes to going slow motion to freezing your enemies in time there is almost limitless gameplay variation.
Story: 7/10
I'm afraid there isn't much to the story. You get the dagger, unleash the Sands of Time, meet Farah, and travel through Sultan Azad's trap and enemy-laden palace. It puts a whole new twist on the old idea of saving the world. Though it still is a pretty awesome story all the way from the opening FMV to the final major plot twist (no spoilers here, you will have to play and beat the game for yourself.
Controls: 10/10
Perfect. There is nothing else to say. They are not difficult to use at all. Left-click sword attack, right-click run on walls grab things, and block, middle mouse button to use the daggers powers, R to rewind. They will respond perfectly and are not slow (a big improvement over the original Prince of Persia).
Graphics: 10/10
Beautiful. There is no other way to describe them. Just go outside and look at the palace landscape. You will be absolutely amazed at the beautiful palace view. The graphics are seamless. Every detail can be seen in Azad's palace, and the controllable camera angles are great.
Sound: 10/10
The sounds are perfect. The grunts, falling cries, and cracking wall noises are beautiful and undistorted. The voice acting is great, and at no point does it sound like someone is reading from a script. The music is great, especially the battle music and the music during the credits. It deserves nothing less than a 10.
Combat: 8/10
Great. There is so much variation. You can jump over them and attack, you can jump off a wall and attack, you can freeze them with the dagger and slash them in half, or you can just simply hack-and-slash them all to death. I love how your sword upgrades (the final one can kill any sand creature in one hit). The reason it has an eight instead of a ten is when you are on the ground and surrounded, your adversaries will attack constantly and it is hard to get up without rewinding and wasting your sand.
Repayability 6/10
No variation between two different games, besides what you do. But it is still an awesome game so you will probably want to play it again anyway. I did eight times, and I'm still not tired of it.
Rent, Buy, or Forget:
I would say buy it. Usually now you can get it most palces for about $20, which is definitely worth the cost to play this truly amazing game!
Overall: 10/10 (Gamefaqs wouldn't let me give it more)
