Call of Duty
Review by sk8terguyjake
"The Best World War II Shooter ever, and possibly top ten greatest games ever made!"
This is a truly amazing game, that I would reccomend to just about anyone. The game is just amazing and addictive. A must buy for anyone.
Sinple Player 9/10
The single player is a blast. It doesn't last really long but it's awesome while it lasts. There's twenty four missions in total, the best I think are the the russian ones, or the americans, who also have awesome campaigns. The british campaign is okay, but it isn't like the russian stalingrad missions with like a hundred allies. The british missions are boring, but the rest are just incredible. While it doesn't last really that long it really does immerse you into the game. If you play it on veteran, the hardest level this game can be quite challenging. So actually the campaign can last you on the hardest difficulty Also, you feel a sense of comradery with the men your with. I think that this games campaign is truly awesome.
Multiplayer 10/10
A new trend I've noticed is when a lot of games come out, and either have awesome multiplayer (BF 1942), or mainly really good campaign (Medal of Honor) this has both, and not just okay at both, but awesome at both. The multiplayer is just a blast. It's just crazy playing online, I mean it's just a battlefront. also the spawn times aren't really long when you get killed so you keep on playing. It's really cool with the way the game modes are played. You can play team deathmatch, which is when the axis and allies play for a set amount of time and the team with more kills wins simple, but fun. Then there's objective based games, and capture the flag that kind of thing. It's just hectic, I mean you just walkaround trying to survive almost. The average lifespan of a player is 20 seconds maybe, so it's really crazy. This may not be everyones style of play but let me tell ya, you are never bored at all. Also, if you have problems with punkbuster (like me) no fear, you can play using gamespy, or you can filter out punkbuster servers and play on non pb servers, which unlike on most game, are actually quite populated. I recently got this game for my birthday, along with halo and a few others. I played halo online then played call of duty online, and halo was a snoozer in comparison. Now this is halo the "greatest game ever" think of how good call of duty must be. This game has insane multiplayer.
Sound 10/10
The sound is amazing. All of the gunshots for each gun sound different and you can hear shells, and men shouting orders and explosions and all sorts of stuff. The sound really contributes to the greatness of this game. You feel like your in the battle yourself. It just immerses you into the game. You feel just like a member of a much larger plan. Hearing explosions and gunshots syncronized perfectly with your teammates dying and moving into the next objective, or hearing the axis guys shouting out orders. It just is another place where infinity ward coud do no wrong. Also, where headphones when you play this game because the sound is much more crisp. But the sound is so ambient, and it synchronizes perfectly with the enviroment and mission.
Graphics 9/10
The graphics are very solid. All of the colors blend perfectly and all of the explosions look realistic. Your men talk realistically and the lip synching looks okay. Also the frame rate is great, despite having such strong graphics, the frame rate doesn't suffer at all! Also, the men who are your team mates have different faces, and have different expressions, like in the first mission of stalingrad, where your in the boat, you can look at your team mates faces and see an expression of terror mingled with shock. It truly immerses you in the game much like the sound does.
Controls 10/10
This game has awesome controls. The controls work perfectly and are very adjustable. Again, very same setup with mouse and keyboard, but this game has one feature I've never seen before. Instead of just zooming in you look down the barrel of your gun. It just makes you feel more immersed into the game. Just one of the few things that immerses you into the game even more.
The Bottom Line: This game is truly awesome and a must buy for any shooter fan of anykind. I've found myself ducking down quickly to dodge fire, or reaching to pat my AI team mates on the back only to not feel anything in the air. (I probably look like a lunatic playing this game) This is definitely the most immersing game I've ever played. This game is awesome and the best WWII game ever made, and for that matter top ten games ever! Thats how good this game is. Everything was perfect down to every last detail. This game just blows my mind away.
